Can someone summarise what Briles did exactly?

I'm struggling to understand some posters who are opposed to him for OC on what appear to be moral / ethical grounds, but are fine with Kiffin after what he pulled at UT (among other things) and / or Sark after his firing from USC for being drunk on the job repeatedly.

Admittedly, I was busy with other things at the time of the Baylor scandal...just know it was something about Briles covering up sexual assault allegations against players. I also believe he denies it, despite his dismissal.

Kiffin, Sark, and even Petrino's misdeeds don't hold a candle to what Briles allegedly did. He allowed rapists on the team with prior knowledge of their behavior, covered up rapes by football players so he could win, and was dishonest about a lot of it.

Art Briles allegedly (or at least is accused of) knew about at least one, possibly multiple rapes and sexual assaults involving his players at Baylor and did nothing about it. Which depending on depth of knowledge, could be considered an actual crime worthy of jail time.

Kiffin is guilty of being a dipshit. which to my knowledge is still perfectly legal in all 50 states.
Sark got drunk at work a few times. Frowned upon in most work places, but not illegal.

Basically what Paterno did.

He ignored what was happening.

I don't want him anywhere near LSU.

It appears he nothing wrong.

I am going to link an article. It is kind of a fluff article. click on the comment section and read the comments by Jonathon Stoops. He explains what Briles did and acted honorably. He provides 4 links to other articles that show he acted honorably and was made a scapegoat.

Kept sexual assaults by his players on the down low. Supposedly met with one girl who was going to the cops and got her "not to".

Ugly ugly situation.

I do believe in second chances though. IF, IF he has learned his lesson. You can't do that kind of shite. That's not NCAA stuff, that's just being a decent human being.

So has any of this been proven?

I'd have thought he would have been prosecuted if he was undoubtedly guilty, no? What if he didn't know anything like it sounds like he claimed?

Just trying to reconcile the gap between what he's accused of and prosecution, and if it's lack of evidence, why are we crucifying him in the court of public opinion?

Well lets see... 1 coach left for a better job after 1 season. The other coach systematically covered up his player's rapes for a handful of year. Yeah, no difference.

We as a society are forgiving as long as someone has been humbled by the adversity he or she created or was part of. Good point

Don't let your fandom cloud your brain on this. What he did was way worse than anything Petrino did and closer to what Paterno and Co did.

This is nothing close to the Penn State situation - those were little kids who had no idea what was going on. These were college girls willingly getting hammered at parties.

Don't let the facts get in the way of the cool story that was rumored to have happened by those covering up their own misdeeds. Notice how there is no link to any facts saying he actually did something wrong?

Au contraire, he made sure it had been reported to the university Judicial committee, then encouraged the victims coach to call the police. The victims coach said so.

Being hammered at a party doesn't excuse fricking rape, and IIRC some of the accusations were violent gang rapes.

My son would NEVER sign with LSU if he were on the coaching staff.
