Sometimes they do, sometimes they dont. It was clear UT had an agreement ready to go with Herman before they fired Strong. Then you have incompetents like Pat Haden and Joe Alleva.

Seems like they are going to hire Chip Kelly firing Dykes this late into the season. But I would think Kelly would get atleast 5 better offers after next year.

Actually Cal might fit him perfectly. Expectations are low, no powerful boosters to deal with, etc. I could definitely see it happening.

He had some great offensive players and games at Louisiana Tech.
He should work his way back to a G5 team and get a real defensive coordinator. He would excel.
