100 % certain that Riley is Woodward's 1-A

OK then 99.99%, because 100% freaks you guys out, but it's Riley. It's Riley because he's got the resume and because he's not given any hint to anyone to take him off the list. And if Riley's on the list, he's certainly at the top. Riley is also the one candidate out there that would have a hard time telling LSU and Woodward no, he's very familiar with LSU and Louisiana's talent. Riley would also have a hard time saying yes. OU is special for Riley no doubt, but he can find very few elite defensive guys in Oklahoma which he needs to win a title, they are everywhere in Louisiana.
Who is Woodward's 1-B? Well, it's a coach somewhat comparable to Riley. Deductive reasoning tells you, that 1-B is not Aranda, not Tucker, not Napier, probably not Frankin or Kiffin either. They might become a great coach at LSU but their resumes are not comparable to Riley's. A sports analyst gave a convincing argument against Lane Kiffin being a top candidate. Noting that if you take out Lane Kiffin's name and just look at his coaching resume, it's not attractive. Another noted Kiffin doesn't have the maturity yet to be a head coach at an elite school.
So who is Woodward's 1-B coach? It is a coach somewhat comparable to Lincoln Riley or Riley is somewhat comparable to them. That would be Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly, Chip Kelly, Urban Meyer, Ryan Day, and Joe Brady. Of those the one I see Woodward would have a strong lean towards is Jimbo.

Didn’t you just say Jimbo is off the table last night?
ETA: Or was that someone else? Who was the one who claimed to be Woodward’s advisor?

This fanbase needs to temper expectations. Sure he’s going to try for Riley but no way in hell he comes

So you started this:
Another random guy in there tells you Fickell is 100% out so now the Riley part is still fact but the Fickell part was false.

That guy’s thread was wacked

OU is about to be an SEC school. I just don’t see enough to compel Riley to want to leave Oklahoma to come live in Louisiana, one of the worst places to live in the country in terms of annual quality of life rankings.
I hope it’s Joe Brady. I want that guy back here working with Walker Howard this time.

You kill all credibility with me when you throw
name in there. No chance I take anything you say serious if you believe he has even an inkling of a chance at being hired.
eta: which disappoints me because I want it to be Riley

I think his screen name was “ Up late on a school night “

I thought Jimbo had taken himself off of Woodward’s list, but I’m not so sure now. With several insiders all saying Fickell has made it clear he’s not interested. Then who else but Jimbo could be at 1-B?

I think Riley would have strongly considered it if OU wasn't moving to the SEC. Now, I don't think he would come here.
Posted on 10/23/21 at 8:21 am to TrueTigerTale
So how do you know all of this?

This
He has it made and the only negative was playing in the B12. Now he will be in the SEC and is already a top 3 recruiter and on the verge of a NC. What’s the upside? Money will be equal

quote:Agree. He needs to stay at Ole Miss forever. He isn’t mature enough for bigger programs

Please stop saying Brady.
IMO he's not at all comparable to the list of coaches you mention, or anyone has mentioned, at all.
Yes, he helped orchestrate the best offense in history, but he's never been a head coach, never really recruited, and doesn't like it.
It is such a dumb arse "one of us" type opinion to look at Brady, and I know Woody knows better than to do that.

Lincoln Riley, Mario Cristobal , Jame Franklin, Luke Fickell, Lane Kiffin
Posted on 10/23/21 at 8:24 am to Henry Jones Jr
lane kiffin would be a big fart in the bathtub of a hire. I don’t get the appeal. His resume kinda sucks.
Posted on 10/23/21 at 8:26 am to Lakefront-Tiger
After what he orchestrated here in 2019, after the torture we’ve been through of not having an offense for forever and he being able to create the very best of all time in ncaa football?
I’d roll the dice on him. Walker Howard coming in. Winner winner chicken dinner.

If it’s Jimbo,it’s a massive failure of a hire.
Jimbo has had all the money and recruiting potential possible at his fingertips at A&M and has yet to have what most LSU fans would consider as a “good year”.
