Why does his name not come up more? The man is clearly a great coach and elite recruiter. I get that he was caught up in the academic/agent scandal at UNC, but the NCAA cleared him and we now know that it was more of a university wide problem rather than something specific to football or Davis.

His age at 63 could be the issue. Defensive coordinator at LSU?

He was hardly an elite recruiter. He took a college job that nobody wanted that happens to be in the most talent rich part of the most talent rich state in the nation and was able to sell kids on rebuilding what only a few years earlier was the elite program in the nation with 4 NC's in 9 years.

I think he's a good coach. I'm shocked he is 63. Guess I'm getting old too !

He was a hell of a recruiter at UNC too though. He had a ton of stud defensive linemen and receivers.

Yea he has probably been too picky with his rebound job offers and has let the game pass him by. So much has changed in the last 4 years, especially in regards to stopping a HUNH offense. Hell, even Saban can't stop the good offenses anymore.

ummmm, he is the reason for larry coker's successes at the U in 2001 and 2002. davis left him tons of talent. you really have no clue as to what went down before davis got there do you??

I'd be down with giving his a new chance. He will be on his best behavior, and at 63, he will not likely be given a top-tier college position based on needing a few clean and well-performing years before once again getting such a head job, especially at an NCAA institution.
