I’m currently reading a great sci-fi novel over the holidays.

There’s a great part of the book where some old soy climate change expert is brought to liberal tears.

I listened to this, it was great when the alien started talking.

It's definitely a great listen -- outstanding audio production values.

Very good book, especially if you like the nitty gritty science like in The Martian.

I’m reading this now.
I’m having a hard time finishing it.
Thought it would be better judging by what people on this forum rated it.
Not my thing I guess.

I have it, haven't read it yet. I read The Martian at least once a year. Great book.

Enjoyed it, one of those books that's better to listen to the audiobook IMO.

Why is that? Not disagreeing, really. I just don't know why an audio book would be better than reading it yourself.

The audio production is top notch, and being able to "hear" rocky adds to it IMO.

I'll have to check that out, then.

Yes! On this board’s recommendation I listened to it recently and loved it. I don’t think reading it would’ve been as good bc the sound effects were great. I liked the narrator too.

I didn't read The Martian but loved the movie. I had high hopes for PHM. I liked it but didn't love it. It didn't seem all that serious to me but I don't read a lot of SF so what do I know. I gave it 4 stars on Goodreads.

Just finished this last night. I thought it was a pretty good book with the beginning to late middle being fantastic. I hadn't binge read like that in years.

I wished the ending had continued further into the future to see what happens.

I was also really not a fan of the very end (the epilogue, I guess). Without giving away spoilers, I don't believe that the character would have been as content with the situation as suggested by the book.

A good audio book narrator and production vastly improves a book for me.

This book being a prime example.
My main example I was give though is telling people to listen to Mistborn Era 2 on audiobook. It's perfection.

I was the opposite with this one. Tried to listen to the Alloy of Law and couldn't do it. I'd listened to all of the Stormlight Archives and Mistborn on audio so I think I'd just gotten tired of listening to Michael Kramer.

Ray Porter was perfection with Project Hail Mary. I preferred the audiobook.

Love this audio book. Ray Porter crushes it.

For those who like his narrating, check out the bobiverse. Less serious but pretty fun overall.

I just started listening to it this week... I was a bit apprehensive, but so far enjoying it. I agree that the production and narrator are very engaging..
