I think The Wire has overtaken The Big Lebowski as the most hyped piece of entertainment on this board.
When/if you watch the Wire watch the first four episodes in a single sitting. If you're not into it by the end of the fourth episode then it's not for you and that's fine. But fo...

The Wire is tops, it's the greatest drama that was ever televised. For me it goes: The Wire > Breaking Bad > The Sopranos > Justified/Boardwalk Empire/Game of Thrones > Mad Men Breaking Bad's fifth season (technically, the first half of the fifth season) suffered from the same problems the Wir...

5, Superman does not need to be dark and brooding. And why is he ice fishing with a beard? Plus, if you take the slow motion out of Zach Snyder movies they're forty minutes shorter....
Probably the worst screw job was Ordinary People winning Best Picture over Raging Bull and Redford getting the Bet Director Oscar over Scorsese. The Academy might as well have strapped on a ten-inch dildo and reamed Scorsese in the arse because that's how badly he got fricked over.
...
Titanic over Boogie Nights and LA Confidential in '97. Dances with Wolves over Goodfellas. Ordinary People over Raging Bull. Gandhi over ET. Chariots of Fire over Raiders of the Lost Ark. In the Heat of the Night over the Graduate and Bonnie and Clyde. Forrest Gump over Pulp Fiction and Shawsh...
what about the commentators on T.V.? they get a lot of hate. Thing that always baffles me though is how can you focus on what the guy is saying and not just sit back and enjoy the game?
I loathe Joe Buck and his commentating partners on football and baseball. A good comm...
Hah, I'm not that pedantic or stereotypical. I used to frick with people at school by saying that Arnold should have gotten a Best Actor nominee for Terminator 2. I actually kind of believe that, by the way....
To be fair. The Godfather (the movie) is universally near the top of the greatest films of all times lists. The book does make many best of lists.
I was a film major in college, the Godfather is the only perfect movie I've ever seen. I enjoy the book, but the movie is light years ...
The movie only got 1 star, but I have to put it as one of my top superhero movies.
The music (both score and soundtrack) make that movie better than it has any right to be....

I think it's the last network drama that reaches the level of cable dramas. It was a show that didn't talk down to or stereotype, it was emotionally honest and brilliant. Plus it did something that most shows have a hard time with: it stuck the landing and had a great finale. ...
As a certified hater of the New England Patriots (thank you Super Bowl XXXIX) and Eagles fan today is my Super Bowl this year. Nothing like watching Massholes turn on their favorite team. "Brady is a chokah! Get rid of Welkah!" It's amazing....
quote: season 2 is terrible you can thank the writer's strike for that.
Word of God is that they got away from football and realized that was a mistake....
He's there for at least 3 years regardless of on field results.
I'm an Eagles fan; he's there for at least two years, possibly three. He wowed the media in his first presser, which is a big part of the job in Phila. The fans will give him this year just because they're glad...
He got distracted because he was makin' a stew, baby!...
