re: Grand isle rentals dump and fish report - Mmackl1
Stayed there for a bachelor party in March. Wasn't bad. Rained the entire weekend so we never put the boat in the water. Bring a big rod to put cracked crab on the bottom off the dock....

re: Water coming in my boat? - Mmackl1
Do you have a water pressure gauge or a speedometer? If so check both of those lines (small rubber hoses about 1/4" diameter). Although it is more than likely a loose or cracked thru hull fitting. Just had this problem on a buddy's nautic star. luckily it held long enough to get back to the dock but...

re: Towing 8x32 office trailer with 1/2 ton? - Mmackl1
I would definitely get at least one spare if not 2, and make sure you can bust the lug nuts loose before you leave the house. It is a lot easier to figure that out when you're somewhere other than the side of the road. Did you build out the inside of it yet? Interested to see some other layouts f...

re: Towing 8x32 office trailer with 1/2 ton? - Mmackl1
I have a 10'x 32' office trailer that I converted to a camp. I have towed it twice with my F250 about 80 miles one way from Lafayette to Morganza. I would not recommend towing very far with a half ton, not only because of the stopping power but because the truck weight and wheelbase will help wi...

re: Ship Island in an 18ft Xpress, yay or nay? - Mmackl1
I am looking to bring my boat there next weekend if they finish replacing my transom. I have taken Fort Bayou all the way to the shed and also done the Biloxi river. I want to ride the pascagoula river since my cousin lives in Ocean Springs. Any recommendations for that area?...

re: Cabin for vacation - any recommendations? - Mmackl1
Rent a houseboat in Arkansas. I haven't been but know several people that have and its definitely on my list of places to go. Anchor up in a cove and hang out, BBQ, swim. [link=(http://www.houseboating.org/Lake-Ouachita-Houseboats-for-Rent)]One of the first google links[/link] Bring a boat and...

You been in the mud lately? Make sure there aren't any chunks of mud on or inside the wheel. If not that tie rod ends being worn out will do it too....

re: Any issues with pouring concrete for deck footings in the South in January? - Mmackl1
Don't put 2% calcium in it. If you have someone who has never worked with concrete it can kick their arse by setting up too fast. Its a damn deck for crying out loud. I will pour slabs and paving with the temp 40* and rising, like other have said, it is in the ground....

re: Miss River Flood Thread 2016, river back on the rise again....... - Mmackl1
Don't worry, only two weekends left for deer season. Then I will become and honorary resident of Leeville or Grand Isle. The threat of the flooding only expedited the start of my fishing season so I am not mad. My trailer is pretty easy to move....

re: Miss River Flood Thread 2016, river back on the rise again....... - Mmackl1
I guess I will move the camp to leeville and start fishing! I feel bad for all of the people that spent time moving furniture and cattle, it looked like a mass exodus on the levee to krotz springs on Friday and Saturday. I probably passed 25-30 trucks heading into the camp and I normally see 1 o...

re: "Perko" switch - especially Nautic Star owners. - Mmackl1
Had the same thing happen in my buddy's 2007 Nautic star, except it still felt the same when changing from on/off position. It went out after we got to the first spot and were going to leave... That was a fun trouble shoot without a volt meter! I ended up using the jumper wire from the trolling batt...

re: Boating across Louisiana - Mmackl1
I don't remember who I made that trip with. We did work with CSI, SC&E, etc. My dad ran the shop with all the boats behind the campus safety building for 25 years. None of them could drive a boat so making $8/hr to go play with boats all the time was a pretty good gig. Staying at the old wi...

re: Boating across Louisiana - Mmackl1
I was a student worker at LSU, we Launched at sandollar. Started taking water samples 3 miles out of the pass, took a sample and water clarity every mile until we got picked up on the north side of lake des allemands. I think it was almost 90 miles. It was like 35 degrees that day. Thank god I wa...
