re: Kenner boat mph question - calling meajeaux2 - KJS
I'd say your at the peak of your speed range. You can do some stuff to increase hp,you can play with props, plates etc and pick it up a little more. Kenners were built for ride, not speed. A stage 1 hp increase, and some prop work would prob put you around 50. Most bay boats dont have padded hulls...

re: Poche had or has Steve Sax Syndrome - KJS
I had it as a catcher. I would throw to first or third or jog the ball out to the pitcher. (like in that movie). An ump felt bad for me and while I was warming up a new pitcher, he told me two things; look at the second baseman and act like your throwing to him, and sing a song in my head. (he actua...

re: Used Diesel question - KJS
Got it. I have a work truck so my personal just sits. It gets used on weekends only pulling a 9k camper or a 22 bay boat. The 5.4 triton does ok but shifts a lot hunting for gears. Wanting a rig that doesn't seem to struggle as much. It won't be a daily driver so maybe one or two oil changes a year....

Used Diesel question - KJS
Looking into selling my F-150 and going with a 3/4 ton for pulling/towing. Im looking at 08-11 models. Who made the best engine/trans/chassis combos during those years? ...

re: whats the best platform to buy and sell quality hunting labs? - KJS
Yeah normally I'd say go w trial breedings, however the last two dogs I sold were terrible for hunting. They were great markers but too hot (amped) to sit in a duck blind and be still and quiet for several hours without constant "reminding". For trial breedings make sure both parents or at least one...

re: Boat Questions. OB Brethren Wanted. - KJS
Look at a Hughes Redfisher or a Maverick mbcforums.com. They are center console flats boats with a descent v rake for bay chops and swells. These make great bass and bay boats. And most have been well cared for. I have a Pathfinder but was looking very hard at a used 21 Hughes Redfisher. ...

re: Generator Advice. - KJS
You guys with the portable gens. If you have natural gas at your house do yourself a favor and look into installing a "tri-fuel" kit. You can put a quick connect hose from the gen to the natural gas outlet with a cut off valve and NEVER have to purchase gasoline again. It burns cleaner, doesnt gum u...

Baseball Tigers are class acts! - KJS
Want to give a big thanks for the guys signing all those kids balls and programs. They all took time after the game and really put some smiles on alot of faces. My son even got a pic with his favorite short stop. Really cool to see elite athletes spend time with the little ones. ...

re: Retreiver training book - KJS
Evan Graham , Farmer, Lardy,Hillman ,all are or were the top pros of the sport. Their DVDs and training material is very similar to the methods most pros use. The water dog book was written by an animal behaviorist who never trained dogs for a living. He was a very good author so his book is persuas...

re: Dog training help - teaching a retriever to hold after retrieve - KJS
you have to "teach" hold first before applying pressure. I also teach "fetch" first and make it a game. Pressure of any kind without prior knowledge of how to react correctly is badgering/abuse and will manifest undesired behavior and a poor attitude for learning.Besides teaching the dog you are als...

re: Dog training help - teaching a retriever to hold after retrieve - KJS
Teaching hold is easy. Look up ARHRC(Amite River) retriever club on face book. They meet at Bass Pro in Denham once a month. There are several members and pros that can help you. Evan Grahms' "Smart-Fetch" DVD and book is great as well as Bill Hillmans stuff. Most folks that try and steer you away f...

Reblue, bake on, or Dip my old shot gun - KJS
Beretta A-390 Gold Mallard. Blueing is thin as hell and will rust on a dry day. Anyone around Baton Rouge that re-blues? I like the wood stock so don't want to go the camo route, but a good bake-on or powder coat may be ok as well. ...

re: Why aren't these types of boats more popular in Louisiana? - KJS
They are popular here sort-of. Our welders have modified them a little. Look at a Hankos, Sportsmans Fab, or a Tugga (H. Martinez) built hull and you'll see the same basic dual console style fishing/camp/do-all style boat. Major diff is these are 3/16 all welded with diamond plate or rhino lined flo...
