re: Found out wife has $10,000 in a MF from parents - ed3303
Not necessarily hungryone... If the MF account is not in an IRA, taxes have already been paid on the funds. Most likely there have been taxes paid on gains and dividends each year. You can quite possibly open a ROTH or trad. IRA, and fund it while only paying the taxes due for this year regardle...

re: Official Penny / MJ Stock Thread - ed3303
Allow me to share my two cents... My dearly departed dad was always looking for the quick buck. His poison of choice was Multi Level Marketing. For most of my childhood and much of my adulthood I would hear him say "but this one is different than all of the others". I bet I've heard that a hundr...

re: Wife rolled over her 401k with local investor - ed3303
Thank you, I am well aware of how advisors charge for their services. I have both types of accounts, advisory (fee based) and commission based. Speaking for myself, I can see the advantage of each. For example, if an investor had a 500k portfolio and was being charged 1.25% annually for that portf...

re: Wife rolled over her 401k with local investor - ed3303
My bad, I didn't realize that "real" financial advisors did not charge for their services. I gotta find me one of those, I'm getting screwed every year evidently!...

re: I hate to break it to the Miles haters.... - ed3303
If anyone thinks that the university's administration is "feeling the heat", then you place far too great a value on the opinions of a bunch of internet message board armchair coaches. However, recruits DO read these boards, so keep up all of this nonsense and the programs demise WILL become real...

re: Les Miles is seriously underrated - ed3303
You're right, a large percentage of the contributors on the Rant DO believe he is underachieving and we would be better off with any number of other coaches. These same clowns also think the backup quarterback should be starting (regardless of who it is), ______ should getting more carries, why are...

re: tailgating opportunities for out-of-towners? - ed3303
Simple, get there early to avoid traffic. Wear GOLD! Bring a small, easy to carry cooler with beverages of choice. Walk around, enjoy the campus, the sights, the smells and introduce yourself to people. Long before kickoff, you will have been invited to join more than one tailgate and will probabl...

re: OT: How long did you guys mope after your dog passed away? - ed3303
Biglego, Sorry to hear about your little girl, you however, have a lot to learn. I know that to you, "it's just a dog" but obviously the OP is mourning the loss of his pet. Learn so have compassion for others, you'll be happier. God bless, Ed...

re: How is my financial state at 26? Thanks for the input. - ed3303
The very fact that you have no revolving debt and are an active saver at 26 puts you way ahead of the curve. I would suggest that you consider opening your ROTH IRA asap. You can invest 5,500 a year which will become a substantial tax free retirement vehicle but the contributions can be withdrawn ...
