re: Gritty or cities with edge

Spokane, WA. A conservative city that is bound by Seattle politics. The winters start early and end late. Not a lot of industry, though it’s grown the past few years. The largest city between Seattle and Minneapolis (1,600 miles on I90/94, aka not shite else around.) It has a metro of about 50...
Not the Hoh, but quite a bit in the Cascades/Selkirks....
One winter, I was camping in the Hoh over Christmas. Went down to a sandbar in the river with my dog who proceeded to jump in. He wasn’t being washed downstream, but the current was strong enough to keep him from swimming upstream back to the sandbar. Jumped in, got him out, and had to hike back...

re: north cascades national park

Lived on Whidbey Island for 3 years, been in Spokane for 4. North Cascades is the best. Artist Point road just opened up last week. If you go to Rainy Pass, the north parking lot leads to Cutthroat Pass and further is Granite Pass. Absolutely beautiful. Granite Pass, out and back, would be tough...
The “before year 2000” stuff was legit because the company hadn’t been bought out yet. The current higher-end apparel and gear may still be some of the best, but the “mostly streetwear camouflaged as outdoor wear” is garbage. ETA: OR, Cotopaxi, some Mammut, Enlightened Equipment, some Kavu for s...

This a LOT of driving, but beautiful scenery the whole time. You’ll need a Discover Pass for any state parks in WA ($30 for a year but I think there’s a $15 option.) $100 ticket if get caught without. You’ll also need the National Parks pass. $80. West Rim of Crater lake is 95% of what you would...

Catalytic converter question…

Posted by br_1560 on 1/26/23 at 11:23 pm
CEL came on last week, and the manual code check didn’t show anything. Took it by Auto Zone and their scanner shows it to be the catalytic converter. I haven’t experienced any abnormal performance issues, and the only thing that has changed is the CEL. 113k miles on the vehicle, which I’ve read i...

re: Traveling in Sub-Freezing weather

I’m not sure how remote it can get and this may not apply at all. When crossing the passes in WA or traveling forest roads around Bonners Ferry during the winter, I usually prep to camp a night. A good blanket, some snacks, water. I’ve been trapped/stuck on I90 at Snoqualmie for hours and hours. ...

Record player recommendations

Posted by br_1560 on 1/18/23 at 9:37 pm
SIAP, tried the search but… Anyway, I’m looking for a decent record player to play 33/45. I’m not very knowledgeable about them, but trying to learn. I know my list of “must haves” include being able to replace the needle and having a decent built-in preamp. I’d also prefer to be able to connect ...

Usually a prime day for soloing in any park, trail, or outdoor activity. I usually find a cool Air Bnb/Hipcamp spot and explore around. Very fun if comfortable with being alone and such. ...
He definitely has made College Gameday less family friendly for my four year old to watch.
I’m not 100% sure, but I’m going to guess that the “four year old” demographic probably doesn’t get discussed much when producers are considering content. I could be wrong, though. ...
