re: Trying to get into the safety field....Training? - jtiger123 on 1/13/15 at 9:23 am
As mentioned before, Southeastern has a good ABET accredited program, the draw back is theres no distance learning path. They try to accomodate most of the OSHE classes at night or atleast have a section available, but classes outside of the department may not be convenient to a non-traditional stud...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Highs of 76 degrees today in Middle of August!!!! - jtiger123 on 8/15/13 at 1:33 pm
Ponchy, I was trying to reply to you in the plant workers thread but it got deleted or anchored. If you hear anything from the safety guys let me know, my e-mail is bourre84@gmail .com. I'm down the road in Killian and I'll be graduating from Southeastern in December...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Plant workers Roll Call - jtiger123 on 8/15/13 at 1:20 pm
Yep. What do you want to know?
It just seems like you have to have a relative or a good buddy to get your foot in the door to any plant unless you are in operator school. Any tips? or any career fairs coming up you may know?...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Why do civilians own "assault weapons"? - jtiger123 on 7/21/12 at 12:28 pm
You need to clarify your use of "automatic" because in gun talk it commonly refers to semiautomatic, which is what most of the "assault weapons" you are thinking of actually are. Fully automatic , meaning more than one round fire per trigger pull, is what you are thinking. Fully automatic weapons ar...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3)
re: OT Safety Professionals - jtiger123 on 7/19/12 at 2:18 pm
well, I don't think you would be able to have either as a new guy. To my knowledge you have to be working in a position HSE related for a period of time before you are even eligible to test for it...similar to a PE or CPA or any other post graduate professional certifications....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: OT Safety Professionals - jtiger123 on 7/19/12 at 2:07 pm
yes, Graduate Safety Professional. SELU attained its ABET accredidation last summer and with that BCSP awards the graduates (BS not AAS) with a GSP. The ASP is more of an accredidation, where as the GSP really isn't. But for intentions of attaining a CSP, its equal in the points/percentage system. I...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: OT Safety Professionals - jtiger123 on 7/19/12 at 2:02 pm
If that is your situation, I would check out Columbia Southern University. They have online based degree in OSHE. However, they are not ABET accredited, so once you graduate you will have to attain your ASP and then your CSP(there is a timeline to this after working in the field in an HSE position)....Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Online Degrees Question?? - jtiger123 on 2/1/12 at 4:55 pm
I don't what program interests you have aside from scheduling problems, but southeastern has an associated and bachelors level occupational health safety and environmental program that is recently ABET Accredited and caters to non traditional students(night classes and such). It would be worth looki...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

re: Good luck with school this semester. - jtiger123 on 1/17/12 at 12:32 am
The saturday 8-3 is zoology 241 at Slu. It's usually only offered every 2 years. The rest of my crappy schedule is due too how small my major is, 85 people total. Occupational health safety and environmental @ slu...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
