Been wanting to take a trip there and thinking of setting one up for in the fall with the lady friend and maybe another couple or two. One of the days we will do the wine thing to make the girls happy but not wanting to spend the whole time doing that. Any good recommendations on places and things to do.

Garrison Bros. distillery is worth a stop, as is Pedernales Brewery in Fredericksburg.

Enchanted Rock is pretty cool as well.

Fredericksburg shuts down pretty early overall. Not much in the way of nightlife. Fredericksburg Brewery in downtown is open until 10 on Friday and Saturday.

Whitewater amphitheater has some good shows during the summer. Rafting down the Comal or Guadalupe rivers, and Schlitterbahn are fun ways to spend a day.

Find a place on the Guadalupe in Hunt, TX. Or rent a house near Fredericksburg, which has some great restaurants. Navajo Grill was my favorite. We rented a house that was on 40 acres and sitting out by the fire stargazing was an incredible experience (bring a telescope if you're a nerd).

Fredericksburg and stay at a bed and breakfast. Hit wine country and the tour at garrison brothers.

Have a local brewery in town and several good bars and restaurants. We are going back in September and catching a concert at the white water amphitheater in new braunfels one night.

Definitely hit Ottos and the brewery in town.
We stayed at the Hoffman house.

My dad lives in Fredericksburg. I like Friedhelms, but he said it has gone down the tubes.

Settler's Crossing is a bed and breakfast about 5 minutes from downtown Fredericksburg. The property has about 8 or 9 old log cabins/houses from the 1800s that have been updated air/water/heat etc. pretty cool place.

You should go ahead and rename this to "engagement ideas in the hill country"

I've been going down to the Hill Country since I was in elementary school.

This year some friends of mine are going to stay in Gruene and float the Comal and Guadalupe and then I'm also going to Concan to float the Frio.

Gonna catch Jason Boland and American Aquarium at Gruene Hall that weekend, then Jason Boland again in Concan.

Can't go wrong with either one.

Was in Fredricksburg for several days in April. Really enjoyed the Nimitz museum complex. Hiked Enchanted Rock, winery tours. Good food at Herb Farm, Cabernet Grill, Navajo Grill. Several bars around town had live music.
Don't miss Greene Hall.
We rented a house on Main St, worked out great.
