TSA Pre question for international travel

I'm traveling to Portugal and will book my flights before my TSA Pre is approved. Is there a way to apply my TSA Pre to my already purchased airline tickets?
Also, I'll be clearing customs coming back through Miami Are there advantages afforded by TSA Pre in the customs line, like skipping to the front and avoiding Zika-AIDS? TIA

Yes, you can call your airline and add pre check # once you get it.
Not sure pre check will offer much "comfort" for international travel re customs lines.

You'd need Global Entry for those perks

I just flew internationally to europe and back, stopping in NYC and flying home from La Guardia. The lines for Pre Approved people were as long as the regular lines at DFW. At La guardia, I got through security faster than the Pre approved people. The longest time I spent at any security check over 8 flights was 10 minutes.

Question 1 - You can go on a participating airlines site and enter your frequent traveler number to get TSA Pre
Question 2 - Hell no. That's what Global Entry is for and it's only $15 more than TSA Pre and includes TSA Pre. However, now you don't get to pay the difference but have to fork out the $100 for GE. Sorry to bear bad news.

Yes. You can add your precheck number to your itinerary.

Global Entry will move you up the customs line. No idea if MIA security after clearing customs has a pre-check line.

Global Entry
How long does it take to process the Global Entry? TSA pre-check is 30 days.

From Global Entry registration, approval, to interview, it took us 5 weeks. New Orleans isn't jammed up, and they were able to take the wife and I at the same time, an hour ahead of our appointment. Heck, it only cost us a total of $2 to park at MSY, it was so quick. Once your interview ends, they email you the approval within minutes. You simply then login and add your Trusted Traveler number to your online airline account, directly to the reservation. The actual card taked about 3 weeks to arrive.
