Does anyone know if and/or when the US plans to do away with negative Covid tests for returning to the US?

Probably going to be a while. We're only at around 45% of eligible adults being vaccinated, and whether you agree or not, they likely want that closer to 70%.

45% is total US population, not just adults. Over 30 has reached 70% I believe, with over 18s being a few percent back. But maybe I'm confusing one dosers with two dosers.

Anyway, I agree with the sentiment. There's the percentage and then there is the political win that ending all masks and tests represents, with cover your arse as well. Constant push/pull.

Maybe tied with masking on planes whenever that ends. I could see those two requirements falling at the same time.

You will be wearing masks on planes, in national Parks, and all federal buildings for the foreseeable future.

The COVID test that is required for a US citizen to board a plan bound for the US is unconstitutional, but hasn’t been challenged in court yet. It will take legal action to get this remedied.

Stolen elections have consequences. Regime change is the only thing that will fix any of this.

fricking retarded. Why would anyone vote for a president who would abandon his own citizens in a foreign country with potentially poor health care during a "pandemic"

It's stupid, especially for those who have been vaccinated.

It needs to end especially for vaccinated Americans. But CDC's virtue signaling asses wouldn't allow it. Eat a bag of dicks, CDC.

When the vast majority of people get vaccinated.

Yeah, government wants to encourage people to get vaccinated, but requires vaccinated people to test before coming back. If they'd end the testing for vaccinated travelers more people would get vaccinated. I wasted half a day in Costa Rica for this nonsense.

I'm not so sure that a challenge in court will be declared unconstitutional in today's politically charged world.

Maybe not. However, the CDC is requiring the airlines to check this “abroad” and have instructed them to deny boarding of a US citizen with no test. In essence, denying entry into the US.

There is a reason they are doing this through the CDC, and not Homeland Security once you arrive.

It doesn’t pass the sniff test, and should be challenged in court. Just because it is an EO, or “policy” doesn’t make it Constitutional.

Just returned from Cozumel. Had the test done, however no one looked at the results. NO ONE. We had to fill out a form attesting that we had the test done and that it was negative, but again, no one reviewed the results!!

Not surprised.

I imagine they audit them by asking people randomly.

Get caught and get royally screwed. I'm not risking my Global Entry.

Do you think these countries want you sticking around if you're positive?

We were in Turks back in April and of course had to take the test to come back to the U.S. The testing center did hand us a printout that showed a "negative" result, but who knows what testing was actually done.
