Do any of yall get them before travel abroad?

Going to Costa Rica in a few weeks and the CDC website suggests Hepatitis A and Typhoid shots for most travelers, other than being current on routine vaccines.

Yay or nay for a 5 night trip?

ETA: My international travel experience is very limited. As in only Cabo twice.

I actually just went and got mine yesterday, so it's funny that you started this thread.

Headed to Bali next month so have to get Typhoid, Hep A, and an update on my Tetanus shots. Pills for malaria too I believe.

Might be too late if you are only leaving in a few weeks. When I went to CR I got travel immunizations a few months before.

Most vaccines take time to actually protect you (ex: flu shot takes 2 weeks).

Still....contact a travel clinic that specializes in travel vaccines and ask them. Oh and your insurance normally doesn't cover travel vaccines. I paid over $700 10 years ago out of pocket for all the shots and malaria pills I needed for a trip to Kenya.

ETA: your insurance would likely cover you to get an updated tetanus shot though. If you have never gotten a Tdap shot....get that one instead if you need an updated tetanus. Gives you tetanus protection as well as protection against pertussis.

Ya I did the typhoid and malaria deal for India.

I think you might be cutting it close for typhoid IIRC

I didn't get any vaccinations before the 3 trips I took to Costa Rica.

For the Amazon basin in Ecuador last fall I got Yellow Fever and Malaria pills on top of Hep A, DTaP, and Typhoid.
