Been to WDW in November '15 and January '17. Could not have asked for better times to go based on the weather and the crowds. Now contemplating a trip to DL next summer. For those that have been to both resorts, how do the crowds compare? What about the weather? I don't want the experience to be miserable so if the crowds are comparable to WDW summer crowds, we'll just skip out.

Once you've been to WDW, DL is a let down. I went 2 years ago. Weather was better, crowds were smaller but the park in general is not as massive or impressive as WDW. I did want to go see where it all started.

It's like a AA affiliate of Disney World

Don't do it. Instead, go to San Diego, stay at Hotel Del Corinado, hit the zoo, the coves, and play a round at Torrey Pines. Send the wife to La Jolla to shop. You'll thank me later.

One of my kids is there now. I'll let you know after they get back.

One of my friends has a house about 30 min away, he goes with his family at least once a month.

We went in April. We rented a house in Anaheim about a mile from the park. Went to Disneyland one day and California Adventure another day. Wasn't as crowded as WDW but it's small and the popular rides fill up fast. They have the old fastpass system with tickets so plan around that as well. We actually really enjoyed it. It was something different and I'm glad we did it.

Disneyland is fun. It's pretty much like the magic kingdom in Florida. I haven't done the California adventure part of the park.

That being said, there are many, many more unique and interesting things you can do in the Los Angeles/San Diego area.

My wife and I went to Disney World in March of last year and Disneyland in October.

We had a great time in Orlando and not so much in Anaheim. All of Disneyland just seemed like a knock off version of Disney World to us. The cast members were even rude

Disneyland is awesome! Disney quality entertainment with enough differences that you will enjoy as 2 whole new Disney parks.

Weather is incredible! We went in June and had to wear jackets in the morning.

You can do it in 3 park days so ii recommend going for a week and doing other stuff that LA offers.

Glad to hear these experiences. Wife and I will be there late November. We'll be spending 3 nights in Vegas on the way and then we'll be in LA for 6 nights. Disneyland is on the list since we'll be there for basically a week.

This. I went this past May and DL was a let down. We left the park at around 4PM.

I'll let you know in a few days. We're going Thursday and Friday to do both parks, then Knott's Berry on Saturday. We're out here now and come every other summer (my wife has family in Yorba Linda and Long Beach)

I' prefer DL over WDW given my kids age. Stay in downtown Disney and everything is walkable. We go at least once a year. 2-3 days is plenty and you can hit the beach or SD zoo afterwards.

Cars Land is great
Yes, it's much smaller
No trams or buses
Better weather
Less people
Cheaper in the long run

Kids got back. Said they really liked it, and remarked how light the crowds were early.

After about noon the place packed out, by then they said they'd just about finished it.

The 2 California parks are a real easy 3 day trip. Non peak times might even be able to do it in one.

If you like Disney classic rides, a lot of the classics are longer and some of them still exist there like Mr Toads and Snow White, but they are different than the old WDW versions.

I tend to favor the Disneyland versions for most of the ones that still exist in both parks.

I grew up going to WDW and didn't go to DL until I was an adult. The first time I went, I felt underwhelmed, but I went back a few years ago and spent more time there and I appreciate it a lot more for its history and classic rides. It's smaller in size, but has as many rides in its two parks that WDW has in all four. And summer-time is their slow season since they block out most annual passes which make up the majority of their attendance.

We went yesterday 9am-midnight. Did both parks in one day (fast pass helps). The kids loved it. I would get a scal pass and do Universal/Disney/Sea world/Lego. If you have older kids or young adults, Magic Mountain (it's awesome)
