How is it? Went to Purgatory a few years ago and enjoyed it. How's the town and the Gondola?

We actually stayed in a cabin about 1/4 from the resort. I enjoyed the skiing and the restaurant/bar Powderhouse up the mountain.

We went 2 summers ago and really enjoyed the town. Good food, good drinks, not too big. I would return.

By who? They are both big tourist draws but they are both more difficult to get to than other mountain towns. Salida is the place that's under rated.

Durango
Enjoyed the restaurants and shops, but too far from the mountains.

Telluride is very expensive relative to most other resorts in CO. That being said, it was worth every penny as it was the best ski experience I've had anywhere in the US - have been skiing/snowboarding for over 30 years.

The mountain village is great - most places in the MV made it just a short walk (many places within 100 yards) to the gondola. You don't need a car in the MV since the gondola can take you over the mountain into Telluride proper. There is also a decent amount of infrastructure in the MV accessible by the gondola.

The terrain in the resort gives you anything you want - plenty of blue/black skiiing as well as more difficult terrain such as Backiron Bowl. Plenty of varied terrain without long lift lines. I was there post-Christmas, and I never had to wait over 5 minutes in a line.

Plenty of good restaurants in the town of Telluride. Also plenty of places to stay in town if you deem the MV too pricey.

Resort is difficult as a drive destination, but there are flights to Montrose from airports like DIA and DFW.

Best mountain town in Colorado hands down. Just got done doing a 4 day trip camping on top of Lizard Head pass(10,00ft).

Here now and somewhat agree. I come here about 6 times a year and love it for 2-3 days, then I am ready to leave. Slowrida still has some ghetto to it.

I hit up moonlight pizza there a couple of times a year (and was just there last week). I’d like to try amicas, but it’s never worked out. Anyone tried it?

You won't find a better place. It's why I moved here a couple of years ago. Better people, better skiing. Gondola rules.

Lizard Head pass

I lived in Telluride for a bit and hiked the Lizard Head trail a few times. The initial part of that hike is a bitch. Where’d y’all camp along the way? In the hip?

My favorite camp site out there was Silver lake.

Anything to do there around Thanksgiving if you’re not a skier?

Still plenty of hiking and 4wheeling options around Thanksgiving. Temps aren't too cold to enjoy some camping.

Near Telluride? If so is there another Telluride that isn't in Colorado?

Sure. I've camped and hiked around Lizard Head Pass that time of year.
Tons of land around Norwood and Lone Cone.
Hundreds of miles of trail on the Plateau if you don't mind parking at the winter gates.
