More to do in the SF area than anywhere else in the country. You could fill a 3 week's worth list of things to do, if you had the time and jack.
Yes..San Francisco is a fantastic World Class City. Weather, Food, Geography, Location, People, Economy, Education, Lifestyle..it really has it all and it is a great place to visit.

If you want the best Asian food, don't go to Chinatown. Instead, go to the Richmond district. It's a really cool little neighborhood near the park with tons of great, authentic places. Burma Superstar is fantastic. The Arguello Market has fantastic sandwhichs for lunch.

I've always wanted to check out a couple restaurants in Richmond District, but it's pretty far from where I want to be / usually am.

Wife is from there. Just went back 2 weeks ago. I go all the time. One of the greatest cities in the U.S. Incredible, amazing city with tons to do & tons of problems(homeless issue, construction on every other block, mentally ill idiots & tech hipsters everywhere)

Sushi-Ryoko's near Union Square on Taylor St.
Italian-A16 in the Marina or North Beach Restaurant in(you guessed it), the North Beach
Go to a Giants game if they are in town. A must. Best baseball stadium & game experience in MLB.
If you have never been do the Alcatraz tour but book well in advance.
Shop & drink on Chestnut St & Union St
Bring a jacket & wear layers of clothing.

There are other Burma superstars in the Bay Area, alameda has one. My favorite place is still house of prime rib, you need a res way in advance though.

Cioppino's near the warf is very good. Walk around China town. There are some good restaurants there. Some are kind of hard to find (2nd floor).

Sotto Mare in the North Beach neighborhood is great for seafood and Italian.

Don't go to the Tonga Room (tiki bar and restaurant) in the Fairmont Hotel, even for cocktails alone --the drink over-iced and under fortified. Food and service also sucked.

I was really surprised at how many homeless people they had there. Now that it's a sanctuary city, they can have it.

I recommend Beach Blanket Babylon to everyone who goes. Not sure how to describe it other than it's a comedy show/play based off current events. It's really funny.

I used to live in Russian Hill (next to Chinatown) and in China before that, so i ate there a lot. Definitely check out:

R & G Lounge
Bund Shanghai Restaurant
New Sun Hong Kong
Lai Hung Lounge

It’s not Chinese, but I saw it above and agree - the best restaurant in the city is Burma Superstar
