I'm going on an 8 day trip to Scandinavia in August. I'll most likely fly into Copenhagen or Stockholm. Does the travel board have any recommendations for an itinerary? I was thinking just doing Sweden and Copenhagen (layover)since that is all I really have time for.

Can't imagine going and not spending a few days in Norway

I've been to Stockholm, Oslo, and Bergen, Norway. I like Stockholm but it probably won't knock your socks off. Bergen is very nice and has fjords that are worth cruising through. Oslo is drab and should be avoided.

Scenery in Norway blows everything else away. It's expensive as hell though

We really have taken similar trips within the past year (beijing, seoul, copenhagen and i'm headed to lund, sweden for a week the end of june). I can give you several suggestions for copenhagen, not quite sure on sweden yet. I still need to make my cph review on here...

I will say, although Oslo isnt great, the train ride between there and Bergen is top notch

Agreed. But with only 8 days, I wouldn't try to get to Norway. And I agree with an earlier poster that Stockholm is not that amazing. I have spent a lot of time there including once with a swedish friend and never fell in love with Stockholm. Copenhagen is a great city though and I could spend 8 days there and do day trips to Malmo, Louisiana Museum.....but probably 4 days in Copenhagen and 4 in Stockholm is the way to go.

Stockholm has some really high end clubs too. But they're pretty hard to get into.

If you are in Stocholm in August you have to do a little island hopping...my favorite part of my trip there.

Bump, I'm looking at going to Copenhagen in July to see the Foo Fighters. Will probably spend 5 days total in the area. Would you recommend staying in Denmark or heading out to Sweden? Any advice is appreciated.

Helsinki is a cool town but wouldn't stay there for more than 2 days. It's a small town relatively speaking.

If you go to Denmark go to this club called "Billy Booze" if it's still there. I went a few years ago and things got weird.

I would recommend renting a bike for a few hours and riding it around Stockholm. There is also some club under a bridge that was pretty wild. Can't remember what it's called.

ETA: Billy Booze is in Copenhagen.

Did Copenhagen and Malmo during a stopover to Iceland. Copenhagen was good fun and we had a great time in a bar on the square in Malmo.
