Anywhere in the country, what's one thing you would recommend to not miss out on?

And does the rainy season right now make it difficult to do many activities?
Every city across the country I look up, weather conditions project to 90% rain every singl hour the entire week, even on the coast(s).

Arenal

Agreed...my favorite part of Costa Rica ...lots of great things to do around there from Horse Rides to hiking the volcano.

If you are more a beach person, my second favorite place was Manuel Antonio

Montezuma. The waterfalls just out of town are unreal.

Sunday morning soccer match with two small towns facing each other. People running on the field to protest calls. Kids selling fried chicken and Imperials. Great time.

Hike to Rio Celeste Waterfall. Can be done in a days drive on some back roads from Arenal, great way to see the country. I have been to Costa Rica in the rainy season and the dry season, I much prefer the rainy season. It's way greener and more beautiful. You should have intervals before it rains to get plenty of activities in.

Rent a car while there, it opens up so many options.
