Visited Disneyland on 7 and 8 October here are some initial thoughts. I can expand if anyone wants.

Pros:
1. Cafe Orleans (Muffaletta salad, pomme frites, monte cristo, beignets)
2. Less fat scooter slobs compared to WDW
3. Weather compared to WDW
4. Photopass+ or at DL known as Maxxpass is only $10.

Cons:
1. Illegals
2. Only 1 fastpass every 2 hours and there is no kiosk you must travel to the actual attraction.
3. Small
4. Feels very corporate and the Disney “magic” is not as pervasive.
5. On property accommodations are terrible compared to WDW.
6. No magic bands
7. Although the original, feels like a cheap version of WDW.

Since I’m currently living about 30 minutes away from DL I probably will return, but if I had to drive greater than 2 hours I would just go to WDW twice a year.

Your #1 complaint is that there are Mexicans there?

The list isn’t necessarily in ranked order however yes there are an abundance of illegals there which detracts from the experience.

So you went to Disneyland during their gay days? How was that? Did you know it was gay days before you went?

I know it was gay days October 6-8 because my coworker almost planned his Disneyland trip for his family that weekend until he realized what weekend that was.

Did you generally go to WDW twice a year?

Do you have kids? If so, how old?

I went to WDW this year during the week of "gay days" for WDW, which started the Thursday after Memorial Day. I'm not sure how it is at Disneyland, but at Disney World it is extremely easy to plan around that event. The gay days folks have a website set up telling their attendees which parks are the "gay days parks" of that day. They were doing a Disney park and one other Orlando-area park every day. Simply pick one of the other parks for your trip on each of those days and you are golden.

This sounds ridiculous. Is there an app for fast passes, like at WDW, or are you forced to use the scanners at each attraction?

I was just there too. The haunted mansion was awesome.
I liked how compact it was. I only tried the flatbread in park.
I liked getting to ride Mr. Toad and Scary Adventure again.
I didn't go to Adventure.

You did not do the fast pass right. The system is so much better than world's system.

Every 1.5 hours you get a fastpass. You pick it on the app, or the kiosks. The park is so compact no two rides are more than a ten minute stroll.
With world resort guests pick passes so far out, that most rides are out of passes before rope drop. Land, you have to be in the park to set passes.

There were a lot of gay couples, but nothing kike the magic kingdom gay days. I think since being gay is no big deal at all in LA that gay days there don't really stand out. I saw a lot of mexicans, but unlike the OP I didnt constantly check their legal status.

The $10 let's you use an app. There is no limit on how many you can have, you just have to wait 1.5 hours between selections.
You can also get them in both parks same day.

Knowing the OP...he may have just thought anyone with brownish skin was Mexican.

Case in point...my coworker and his family are Filipino. And you know how CA has a huge Filipino population. Bet he thinks my coworker is some illegal Mexican as well.

Wonder if he considered that most illegal Mexicans likely don't have the money to go to Disneyland.

Pretty much why Disney built Disney World in Florida. They needed 100X more land to be able to control the experience like they wanted. In Anaheim, he ended up with Best Westerns and HoJos across the street.

This is much better, but still far different than how it's down at WDW. We just made our fastpass selections for our December trip this morning, and we were able to make 3 a day for each day of our trip. I love the level of planning that allows.

I was surprised to see "Filipinotown" also a Koreatown, then areas for the different central american populations.
What was odd to me was that neighborhoods were cultural specific, and driving around you would see signs of that. Though when you saw people out and about everyone's group was usually a mix of multiple races. Mainly something I noticed in line at the park. I didn't think there were large "gangs" of mexicans. Most groups seemed to be mixed, unless it was families. I did think there were a lot of scooters and strollers. Disney really needs to make like a bike lane for scooters and strollers. Also make traffic keep right. (They actually did this after Fantasmic to funnel people to the middle of the 'wheel')

In the park some women were so fine my wife was pointing them out saying "look, she is beautiful".
I also noted that whenever I saw LAPD interact with someone they seemed really nice and friendly. Opposite of the surly NOPD.

It's not a big deal anywhere. Gay days in Orlando stands out because some of the attendees do some pretty disgusting things in the middle of the park.

It's great when you stay on property. If you don't it sucks.

Well, you likely won't get the high demand fast passes you're wanting (Flights of Passage fast passes were already taken until mid-afternoon when we set our passes this morning), but people staying off property can still make fast pass selections 30 days out, and they hold some passes just for that. They also hold some for day of so everyone has the opportunity to get something.

Yes or at least once a year for the past couple. Kids are 4,3,1.
