I've never had any desire to go to Disney World. It has always seemed like my worst nightmare, but my wife loved it as a kid and has been wanting to bring our daughter, who is 3. We were going to wait till she got a little older, but now my wife's boss has invited us to go with them (they have a daughter the same age as ours) and have said they will pay for everything (flight, hotel & tickets), so I guess I can't say no...

Anyways...what other expenses would there be? Food? Anything else?

Also...what do you do in Disney World with a 3 year old?

Is late September/October a good time to go?

Other than being during hurricane season it is a good time. Not overly crowded

October is perfect. Not too hot and small crowds. You're going to love seeing your daughter take it all in.

I love Disney World myself, but if it's not your cup of tea, just watch the reaction your daughter has towards everything. That should put a smile on your face and make it enjoyable for you. Try to get to the Magic Kingdom as it opens so your daughter can see all the characters arrive.

Only issue I see is early October coincides with bow season.

If you go into Disney with a poor attitude, then I feel sorry for your wife and kid.

As far as the time frame, that may be good. Halloween in Disney is awesome. My kids loved it. We went last year but at the end of May so my son could do the Star Wars weekends. Awesome doesn't describe it. The pure enjoyment of my two kids (ages 6 and 4 at the time of our last visit) makes any "inconvenience" worth it.

You'll be paying for food/souvenirs, etc.

its just not some place that I ever considered going for vacation

Epcot Food And Wine Festival

You won't want to go anywhere else. And now that the Frozen ride is open in Norway get your wife and daughter to wait in the 5 hour line and you'll be nice and toasted once they get out.

We went twice while my daughter was 2 since we live in Fl and under 3 is free. Your daughter is going to love it, anyone that says to wait doesn't know what your kid is missing. I think 2.5-4 is a great time because your kids have no idea the difference between Disney and reality, they think all the characters are real, etc. Your daughter is going to have the time of her life most likely.

If she likes any disney movies and princesses than plan on finding out where they are located so you can see them.

If you are going this year, go ahead and start looking to make reservations now fyi.

Ehh, I'm not the biggest Disney World fan by a long shot (been twice, may go once more, but that's pretty much it).

However, unless your kids are just complete pains in the arse, the above is pretty darn easy to avoid. It's actually a fairly easy place to make the most of and have at least a decent non-miserable time, provided you approach it all with the right attitude.

Im not sure how being with the other family will affect it, but we always went right at park opening, went back to the hotel to relax during the heat/peak of the day, then went back that evening. Take it slow and realize you can't and shouldn't try to do everything. That's the best advice I can give.

Not anymore. This year's reservations in October are WAY up. People are wanting to go for Food & Wine and Halloween festivities. September is a better option, IMO. Room rates are lower and crowds should be as well.

Not everything that is free is good for you.

Good luck on the trip, age three is a bit early, imo, but you have a situation there.

Skip summer crowds and heat

It's always crowded

if you plan it right with fast passes it's manageable though

I took my son and his best friend when they were 7 years old. I live in Georgia and know about the heat.

Stayed in Dixie Landings (named something else now).

Had an ice chest with milk...and beer.Had them ready every morning for early guest on-site-opening. Cereal for them.

Ride the popular rides and when the heat index gets too high and the busloads from Kisimee start pouring in, head back to...I have to admit...one of the best pools I have ever seen. Huge oak tree on an island, with slides. And a bar. I'm good, the kids are having fun, wife has turned the A/C to cold, and taking a nap.

Kids don't want to wait in lines, I don't want to wait in lines.

Do they still have the water parks?
