Maine vacation

Visiting Maine in early June. Flying in to Portland. All adults like to hike,
Visit parks, winery,etc. Any advice or suggestions are appreciated.

A few things to think about:
First, Portland is a great city with lots of good restaurants and bars. Plenty of hotels in town, or you could look into a place on the water like Inn By The Sea in Cape Elizabeth.
Not aware of any wineries, but there is the Alagash Brewery in Portland. You can pay a little money to get their curated experience.
The rest depends on what you want to do. Maine is a great state, but it’s big. If you want to do outdoor stuff, make sure it’s not when the black flies are out.

Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor is a beautiful place. I was on top of Cadillac Mountain admiring the views when my phone started blowing up with the news that Les Miles was fired.

Look for a hotel or Bnb near bar harbor and visit Acadia National Park. Plenty of great hikes in there with incredible views. Also a nice park near Camden Maine but the name is escaping me at the moment.

We flew to Boston, drove to Portland for 2 nights (great little city)and then on to Southwest Harbor in Acadia Nation Park last summer. Amazing trip. I will try to find the thread on it and post a link. If you like to hike then ANP is a great place to go. Great food, sites and vibe all the way around.

The Honeypaw in Portland might’ve been some of the best food I’ve ever had. Great restaurant.
Brewery wise, our favorites were Austin Street brewery, Shipyard brewery, and Rising Tide.

Kittery is across the state line from Portsmouth, NH which is a beautiful town

Spend a few days in Bar Harbor. Acadia is gorgeous. The food is amazing. We took a boat tour to an island. It was a great trip.

Boothbay Harbor is a great place to visit. You can take ferry to Monhegan Island if you want to do some hiking.

Because they were oddly not mentioned, going through Kennebunkport to Ogunquit are cool small beach towns, especially Ogunquit.

[/url][/img] View of Camden from Mt Battie and a structure at the summit. You can drive or hike up the hill. That's a cruise ship on the far left-center of the first picture.
We went to Maine for a week in 2018 and stayed one night in Camden at the Riverhouse Hotel; it's a short walk to the downtown area. We asked a local person for a recommendation to eat dinner and she said go to Rockport which is just south of Camden. We didn't go because we had driven a lot that day and didn't want to ride anymore. But, I would check it out as I suspect fewer tourist go there as compared to Camden. The food might be a little better.
We stayed 4 nights at Bar Harbor which was probably 1 too many.

If you go to Bar Harbor take Hwy 1 either there or on the way back; more scenic than the interstate, IMO. Just before Bucksport there is the Penobscot Narrows Bridge & Observatory and Fort Knox. You can take the elevator to the top of the bridge support.

If we ever go back we'll spend more time in Portland. And drive to some of the out of the way places such as Boothbay and Stonington; and do more boat excursions to see wildlife at BH.

Bissell Brothers is in Portland, Maine Beer Company is in Freeport. Both are great.
My favorite place to eat outside of Acadia is Sweet Pea's.

Rent a car and drive east along the Maine coastline. Many stops along the way for hiking and shopping, but I like Ogunquit. Hike the Marginal Way from Perkins Cove to the beach.
