Staying on 7 Mile beach. Right now we've got the bioluminescent kayak tour and Stingray City scheduled.

For those who have been, what are some other must do's? Also, any restaurant suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I went 15 years ago. Stingray city was the highlight of the trip. We did the Turtle farm and beer factory which was ok. Another day went to the other side of the island and enjoyed it. Stay away from down town when the cruise ships are in.

Went to hell and the flower gardens. Don't remember any restaurant names.

Botanical Garden is pretty great if you're into that sort of thing.

No restaurants stood out to me.

Go to a hole in the wall spot called Chicken Chicken. And get the chicken.

No seriously, the best jerk chicken I've ever had.

Lol wasn't sure if serious, so I googled it. Looks legit, thanks for the suggestion.

Stingray City
I went to Stingray City some years ago. They broke us up into groups of about a half dozen people for snorkeling with the stingrays. They paired me up with Brad Douraghty. Remember him? The former UNC Tarheel and NBA star. Nice guy with a nice family. Don't forget to get your Tortuga rum cake. We discovered this place years ago when it used to be in a shed near the cruise ship docks. They would walk around with samples of hot cake from right out of the oven swimming in Tortuga rum. Now it is a giant international enterprise.

In George Town:

Brasserie is very good, a cab ride from Seven Mile.

I had a rental car there last year, if you are driving or don't mind a couple of cab rides-

Ristorante Pappagallo (North of 7 Mile)
or
Tukka (Waaaay East)

or during the day Kurt's Corner (Waaay North & East)

The QEII Bontanical Gardens are pretty cool to visit, in the middle of the Island.

I'd get a rental car there if I'd be there more than two days.

Thanks for the input. We'll be there 7 days and rented a car. Never driven on the other side of the road before, so we've been watching YouTube vids lol. Other than the roundabouts, should be pretty manageable.

Will definitely have to try the rum cake. Much appreciated on the suggestions.

You'll be fine there, just take it easy on the driving. There's only a couple dual lane carriageways (what they call four lane divided highways). Make sure you drive all the way around the East End of GC, it's very scenic.

Don't park downtown (George Town) during business hours in reserved spots, that's a big deal to them and they'll ticket you.

The old jail museum was cool.

Have fun!

Did the swim with stingray thing. That was cool. Think we paid $25 each.

Rental cars have a different colored licence plate from the locals. The locals will give an extra wide berth when they notice the plate.

Best bar in Georgetown was Rackam's! We went there everyday and sat at the bar. It was our favorite place on the Island. Rackam's "Rackam’s Waterfront Bar and Grill has been a favourite hangout for both locals and tourists for many years. It’s the place where you sit at the bar with a dive master on one side and an accountant on the other, all enjoying the same thing… world famous fish and chips, ice cold beers, signature cocktails and, of course, our entertaining and friendly staff."

Kaibo Beach Bar - great location, good drinks, bar type food. Upstairs is upscale and dressier (by Cayman standards) and you'll need reservations.

Morgan's - Nice restaurant on the water. Nice bar inside as well.

Whiskey Mist - Cheesy Irish bar in a shopping center. But it's really fun, and lots of young expats go here.

You can always do the Atlantis submarine if you have little ones. Even cool for adults.

Do the night dive.

Go to Hell and get some postcards to send to family and friends. There is a post office at the gift store.

They will arrive post marked from hell. Makes for a cool souvenir. However you will be back home from your trip 2-3 weeks before they begin arriving.

We did the turtle farm this yea, and while it is good for about an hour, it is a pretty cool excursion.

Been there and recommend it, it's got a quasi-authentic pub interior, it gets fun with sporting events on the television or nights.

Decent beer selection for GC.

Yeah and there is a little side bar that is much more authentic feeling (and quieter/calmer). I think they have some irish music in there too. It's got a separate name but it's in the same place.
