ITs a decent place to go. Moody Gardens is fun for the kids. Not a great beach but there are some things to see and do there. HAve a friend that has a condo down there that he rents out and we try to make it down there 3 or 4 times a year.

The beaches are meh but the city has done a lot to make it a more desirable family spot. Moody gardens and schliterbanh are next to each other. There is a pretty cool railroad museum, the aquarium is very good, and downtown there is an awesome icecream/candy store (but it gets packed). We've go once a year and the kids have a blast

It's a good 3-4 day weekend kind of trip. Not sure I would want to spend a week there unless it was for fishing and/or going to do something in Houston too.

If you can take the ferry. Bring crackers let the kids feed the seagulls on the baxk of the ferry.

We have 3 small ones. It's easiest to stay at moody gardens.

When y'all going? Beginning of summer there are kids weeks. Movie under the stars. DJ poolside. Ice cream. Popcorn. Smores. If you stay at moody gardens you get 4 free pool passes to their palm beach resort. Friday night and Saturday nights there are "bands in the sands" series. Fireworks also.

We went this winter to their Iceland tent. fricking awesome. 9 degrees inside. Everything made of ice. Their package included one night plus two days of everything unlimited and one entry into Iceland. We had a blast. Bought the second night just as a normal purchase since we were leaving on that third day. The lighted Christmas walk was great. As was the 4D Rudolph movie. Ice skating was there. Paddlewheel boat was great at night with the Christmas lights. All included in the two day pass. We will go back next thanksgiving/Christmas.

Kids 6 and under eat free in their restaurant. We eat breakfast there. Ice chest a lunch in the room and head for early dinner on the island.

If you go eat at Smooth Tony's. Their burgers are fricking awesome. Not open weekends.

Like I said my kids are 6,4and 2. We have a blast and everything is within a walk.

Moody Gardens is like a ghetto Busch Gardens and they have a shitty aquarium. And those are the "good" places. Might as well save your money and vacation at a hotel in Slidell before spending money at that craphole of an island.

The aquarium is under a massive new Renovation. The pictures of when it's done look great.

OP woukd have to search to see when it's done.

Don't go for over 1 night. Galvez or Tremont House as someone said and Paco and Rudys for the evening meal.
Lunch do Gorditos, great Mexican not TexMex.

the Spot on the Seawall is owned by an LSU family and has very good food and a nice view.
