What’s your favorite spot for a beach vacation in the lower 48? Assuming Florida will be included in most of the responses, but open to other states as well.

I’m always trying to see and do everything I can on my trips, but I’m just ready to go sit on a beach and drink, maybe play some golf. Are there any all-inclusive worth a shite in the US? I’d consider myself a travel pro but beach resorts aren’t my forte.

Thanks

I enjoy Pensacola, but it’s a short travel for me

San Diego (not specifically because of the beach, but generally speaking)
Perdido because I spend about a month/year there.
Port St Joe, FL area because I have the use of a house in Appalachicola (which is nice)
The key is under the right flower pot on the front porch steps, ring the doorbell three times quick as a warning.

I enjoyed Cape Cod and New Hampshire trips and they were a good alternative to the typical Gulf Shores type trip. Rented a cottage on Airbnb on the Cape a short drive in a rental car to a few beaches.

30A

There may be better overall destinations but for water and sand it can’t be beat

Camping on the Dry Tortugas. Rent and bring a kayak on the ferry - they allow it. Great fishing and snorkeling, beautiful water, interesting abandoned fort to explore. In the mornings and and late afternoons there are only a handful of people around. You can take the kayak across to Loggerhead Key and explore it and talk with the lighthouse keeper. On the other side of Lighthouse Key is a coral reef called Little Africa that has nice coral formations and fish. One of my favorite trips ever.

The Tampa area has the best beaches in the country. Fort Desoto, Caladesi Island, Sand Key, Madeira, St Pete, Pass-a-Grille, Clearwater (ugh, if you must), Castaway Island, etc all of which are probably better than any other beaches in the 48 contiguous. If that ends up being not enough beaches for you, drive South towards Sarasota, Fort Myers, etc and there are another dozen beaches of equal quality.

We stay away from Clearwater, though. One way on and off the beach and it's a tourist trap from one end to the other. It's a terrible place if you're trying to unwind and relax.

Appreciate the responses. Any resorts y’all particularly recommend? I always DIY and would typically rent an Air BnB but like I mentioned, I want full on relaxation mode with access to bars and restaurants on site

Destin is my favorite spot on the planet, but it is getting over run.

Gulf shores is a trashier version of Destin, but it has some good golf options.

I live in Florida and for the most part don’t care for the beaches here, but I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I don’t care for the desolation that outer banks offer. I like OCMD if your looking for that boardwalk, amusements, beach bars and restaurants in a very centralized place.
I really like New England. Sag Harbor, NY, Watchill and Newport, RI. I also like Block island quite a bit great boating and beach towns.

I mean this with all due respect, you need to get around some more. While fine, and I mean probably a 6 of 10, there are much better places to go.

From the Mississippi/Alabama border to Indian Pass, Fl is probably the best actual combination of sand and pretty water. Depending on your taste in accessibility and other options, there may be better things to your needs in places like So Cal, South Carolina, Miami, etc.

I'll go in a different direction. Cannon Beach, Oregon.

Best vacation I've ever had. Jaw droppingly beautiful with endless outdoor stuff.

I actually get around quite a bit, thank you. I grew up going to the very beaches you mention. I lived in Miami/Fort Lauderdale as well as the Tampa area. I have fished and golfed Myrtle Beach and spent time at Saint Helena Island and Litchfield Beach in South Carolina. I live on the West Coast now and have visited San Diego several times as well as the beaches in the LA area (Newport, Huntington to Malibu-area beaches) and a handful from Santa Barbara all the way up to San Francisco. I tend take advantage of my job's travel benefits as often as I can.

Nothing at all wrong with the suggestions you made. Those are all very good beaches and destinations worthy of vacations.

Check out South Carolina beaches like a Kiawah, Hilton Head, Fripp, or Harbor Island. Very natural settings with tons of wildlife.
