Shhhh. You are giving away too many secrets!

I don't do Disney any other way!

People need to realize those rates are flexible depending on the time of year as well.

We own DVC. Can't stay at Disney any other way. Space. Cooking/eating in the room. Laundry. Proximity to park gates. Space. Will be at Bay Lake and Grand Floridian in November. 2 bedroom lake view at BL and standard view at GF.

My son will be turning 3 and being able to get to half the parks without the need of a stroller alone has me excited.

All Star.

Never again.

I'm a Deluxe or Shades of Green (or nothing). I let "others" make the call on the All Star and, frankly, I'm still not sure why because we had 2 military folks in the party and only took 2 rooms at All Star.

I've been in nicer $85 rooms in Manhattan.

I have never rented points but I am definitely planning on it the next time we go. Probably 2018.

Those rates I posted are for Mardi Gras week next year....Davids vs Disney. It would be arriving the Saturday before Mardi Gras and leaving the Saturday after but yes....those rates will fluctuate based on demand.

The only drawback is the commitment. Often times for the high demand resorts you need to book and pay 11 months out and there are no cancellations. You can always take out vacation insurance (which I have never done on any vacation ever and likely never will, but thats another topic) to protect yourself but for example, I am already booked and paid for my trip next May.

We've gone to Disney the last 4 years. The first 2, we stayed at Coronado and the last 2 at Saratoga Springs. We really enjoyed both places but it's very nice having a 2 bedroom split Floorplan suite with washer/dryer and kitchen at Saratoga. Plus it's nice to be able to walk to Disney Springs, especially for the older kids.

We are thinking about going the DVC point route next year for the Food and Wine Fest. How hard would it be to get something near the Boardwalk? Would I be paying out the wazoo? We originally were going to go with the Swan or Dolphin.

Gotcha. Didn't realize you were giving him specifics. Should have known better.

You'll need to book close to 11 or 10 months out. Boardwalk and Beach Club fill up fast since they are walking distance to the world showcase. You looking at a 1-bedroom? Studio? 2-bedroom? For Boardwalk, your best bet is the 1 bedroom. The point cost for a week in October will be about $2k (166 points). But your cheapest option is studio. $1kish for the week.

Yeah, it's just the two of us so we would do the studio if we could get it.

So either 78 or 107 points going Saturday-Saturday in October. If you get a studio, that's either $1000 or $1500. Pretty damn good for 7 nights. Again, you'll need to book 11 months out.

Yep...you can put your reservation in earlier than 11 months but he won't submit it till 11 months (to the day) of your arrival.

Go to the website and play with the cost calculator to see the different price options and I do recommend listing a 1st, 2nd and 3rd option. Now, if the resort has the availability but he doesn't have the point to rent (which sometimes happens) then you have to choose to wait to see if he gets the points (and risk the resort becoming full) or go with a 2nd or 3rd option.
