Still here now. Having a good time. My first time dealing with magic bands, a meal plan and fast pass plus.

Some observations --

Animal Kingdom has the best snack values by far.
Lot's of good food, from Pork sliders to Baked Macaroni with shrimp to excellent falafel and an awesome pimento cheese BLT.

Port Orleans is spread out, but only scooter people should find it a pain.

Also I think disney needs to make either paths for scooters and stroller or a path they can't use. It has gotten insane.

I for sure made some mistakes with fast pass scheduling but I was able to ride every single rid in the park (all four) by 1pm on the third day (not counting Tea cups and variations on Dumbo)
The App IS GREAT. Had a Fast Pass to Dinosaur ( a ride I enjoy) and the que was short so it was nothing to grab a new fast pass. Though a huge grip I have is limiting selections to one park until you used the three advance picks. That stinks for park hoppers.

A huge help to us was Space Mountain breaking down so much. Yesterday walking into MK we were handed multiple fastpass+ Experience cards from groups leaving. On our walk through main street we score a whopping 18 fast passes without even asking. Just because people were so generous. This allowed us to get on any ride except Minecars and Peter Pan (why the latter is so popular escapes me).
Between 8:30 pm and 11 we were able to ride nine rides, and I gave a lot of the fast passes away.

So thanks Space Mountain for breaking down. (I never was a SP fan, Big thunder is much better. )

Okay, so the review.

Checking in is simple. By the time I drove up I already had my room assignment and drove straight to my building. I have a "pool view" room, but there isn't really a view of the pool, but I am only a room away from the walkway to the lobby, which is great.

The on site food court has some good choices, but I haven't tried many. As I type I still have 2 QS meals 1ts meal and 11 total snacks to burn. Using the meal plan up seems to be hard. Though a trip back to the excellent earl of sandwich tomorrow will help out.

So we got in around 1pm, and no text so we went to the outlets for an hour then I got the text, and we drove in.

Port Orleans has a very serene layout. I had a really good location near the bridge to the lobby.

I can see how people further away would have issues. If you want to be close you need to get building 14 or 15 in Alligator Bayou, or Pool view in the princess suites.

There is a lot of Magnolia and Oak trees so it feel like home. It reminds me ofa Disney version of Natchez, next to a Disney New Iberia.

I was in 9075, which faced the "quiet pool" in a royal suite. It was a suite in name only. The fixtures were nice but it was a standard two bed hotel room.

It was nice for the girls, but we spent very little time there and I think Alligator bayou with it's extra bed and smaller buildings is a better bet.

All the Princess suites are in Oak Manor and Parterre place.

The lobby and restaurant are designed to resemble a steam boat depot and a water mill. The decor is nice. The only thing I didn't like as much was the pool. French Quarter has a much better pool

party barge ferries take people from Port Orleans to Disney Springs every 10-15 minutes. A nice relaxing ride.

My building was Oak Manor, it like the three other mansions are very stately looking from front and back, you almost don't notice all the exterior doors.

Review continued on page 3.

(or you can read discussion while at park between then)

The food court at PO French Quarter recently reopened with favorable reviews for the new offerings. Check it out if you have time and give us the scoop please.

Peter Pan is a classic. The line is a cool walk since they redid it too.

You enjoying all us medal wearing people? I headed out last night.

Did the crowds ease up today or are the rundisney people still there?

No, I never got them. I would have posted if I did. My sister took them. Sorry.

I'm going to update and post pics and all.
This really is a great resort and I have been more impressed with everything so far than I thought I would be. From the park to the service. Especially Jungle Skipper Canteen, man that place was so good.

I am checking out now and switching to Universal's Cabana Bay.

Also Photo pass is very much worth it. I used to avoid the photographers in parks, now we seek them out. Easier than lugging a camera around and getting pics.

I'll have some pics and info on French Quarter as well as we are going there for the pool before check out.

There were less runners Tuesday. Sunday I was stressing out because of the busses dropping us off at the TTC instead of the bus drop off. I had 8am Be our Guest reservations and was afraid to miss.
Well disney provided a monorail just for the bus riders and a special queue so all was well.

Food there was great and I will get into that as well. Also it allowed us to ride minecart and Peter pan before most of the crowd entered the park.

Last night I Uber'd for the first time. The line for the bus from Epcot wa incredibly long. Selected UBER, driver was there in 2 minutes. I was at resort before the Epcot bus we saw pull away before I ordered the Uber pulled up in the front (fourth riverside stop; our stop)

Only $8.50, driver was great so I tipped $5 on top.

Actually going to eat breakfast and swim at French quarter now, there pool looked a lot better than ours for sure.

I really like this resort, it's spread out, so it doesn't feel as crowded as it is, until you try and get a drink at 8am.

(I'm sorry I'm slacking with the review. I started to type it out and then realized I didn't have time to put it all together yet)

outline --

Port Orleans Riverside -

Disney Springs
--Earl of Sandwich

-Magic Kingdom
--Be Our Guest breakfast
-best snacks my fat arse found in the park
--Jungle Skipper canteen

Hollywood studios (disapointed as half the park is gone, and it's really crowded)
--Sci-fi drive inn

Animal Kingdom (my favorite theming)
--the best snacks in the park are found here for sure

Epcot
(big gripe is there are only four rides people want to ride here so waits are long; though the Frozen wait times are a lie. It said 75 minutes last night and took 20)

--Chefs de France -- excellent
--Akershus - okay but wouldn't have wanted to pay the $200 cash for it. Plus pickled herring may taste good going in, but the gas it gives you is deadly for others. )

so really focusing on that.

I am not a Disney expert but I have always been good at getting around. So we were able to get most of the rides knocked out quick. Finally figuring out FastPass+ was a great benefit though. I also think I enjoyed the meal plan. I'm about to check out and still have 2 quick service meals and six snacks. (b fast and lunch at Dis Springs will fix that)

As far as this hotel, it reminds me of a stylized Natchez. I really like the cit of Natchez a lot so it's not a negative. The Alligator Bayou half is New Iberia without the haircuts for sure. Great themeing with exquisite attention to details.

The cast memebers have all been great and make the trip so much smoother.
For instance on mission space my wife sat in Gum, and ruined a new $35 shirt. The ride guy saw it, called a Customer service guy who met us and gave us a ticket to get TWO new shirt of any style from any park. How cool is that? I was just going to clean it...

Okay, kids dragging me away, I promise I;ll knock this out today.

Sunday was crazy, I'm sure the race created hell for guests in the morning trying to get places. They had a good section of roadway shut down for awhile til late in the morning. 5k/10k didn't create the same havoc from what I saw. I didn't have any issues in Magic Kingdom with the people who weren't part of RunDisney, but I ran into some a-hole in Epcot and knocked him to the ground that walked out in front of a bunch of us, glad he didn't injure me that close to the finish.

It was cool to do the run though, sucked getting up that early but glad I was done before the heat got bad. First time I've done one at Disney, would like to get the coast to coast now. The signs some of the people had in the magic kingdom were pretty great, wasn't looking around much in Epcot was ready to be done. Wish I would of gotten more pics of them. Some had me LoLing pretty good. Also wish I would of did the 10k to get the glass slipper medal, but my family wouldn't let me mess up two mornings.

Did the crowds come down after Sunday? I know many people that were losing their minds on facebook sunday about the rundisney crowds.

Port Orleans is a nice resort. I do find it pretty spread out... but it's still very nice.

And you are right... SM does break down a lot!! It may be time for another major overhaul.

I have no actual idea, but I always feel like Space Mountain issues are partly because it is dark in there. I feel like a lot of the issues may be guest related, as in guests drop their phones or do something otherwise dumb because its dark. I don't have a clue, its also an old ride.

They were still large on Monday when I was down there. My parents went down there for Daytona and said they are better today. Napoleon said they were better yesterday.

I was laughing at the people I knew from Louisiana that were bitching about the crowds over the weekend on facebook. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned here. RunDisney is incredibly popular, plus the Daytona 500 crowd was there some of the weekend too. It's like they thought Disney was reserved for Louisiana on Mardi Gras week. RunDisney made them lose their minds.

Space Mountain gets what seems like a yearly, month-long refurbish.

Flower & Garden Festival started today at Epcot. You'll find some steals there if you have any snack credit left.

This was true 15-20 years ago, and a lot of people still believe that hype. It's not a bad time of year to go because the weather is awesome and the prices are decent, but this idea of it being an empty resort is long, long gone.

But the half-marathon weekend definetly made it worse.

I think they said there was around 20k people signed up for just the half marathon.

If it wasn't for the runs, crowds probably wouldn't of been too bad. It's getting to a point where there really isn't a slow time of year for Disney during midday hours.

Wifi in the Magic Kingdom was down until about 5 pm yesterday. ATT data was also about as bad as Tiger Stadium on game day. That being said, it has been very helpful when it works.

It was broken down most of the time I was at Disneyland in Jan. However, the ride has currently been converted to the Star Wars themed "Hyper Space Mountain." It also has a very different car than the ride in MK. I didn't notice it out on Tuesday.
