Will be doing a road trip along the east coast and our trip is ending in Charleston. Pretty much an open schedule on those dates. Any advice on restaurants or bars to check out?

Favorite restaurants - FIG, SNOB and the Peninsula Grill. We stayed at the Vendue Hotel. They have a couple of nice bars including the one on the rooftop.

I enjoyed the sunset harbor cruise. We used Schooner Pride.

167 Raw was outstanding.

Ive heard that the NYE party on the Yorktown is a lot of fun but have never been.

Is there anything Christmas related to do? Im thinking along the lines of hotels to visit that are nicely decorated or lounges featuring live three piece bands singing jazz or Christmas tunes.

The Sanctuary at Kiawah has an amazing Christmas set up. Charleston Place downtown has a good Christmas set up too.

My buddy plays in a jazz trio at High Cotton in the winter downtown. They’re really talented. The jazz performance school at College of Charleston is incredible so many places will have their students/grads playing. Try Prohibition as well for great music.

Go to 39 Rue de Jean (just call it Rue, folks will know what you're talking about), get the bacon bleu mussels. I'm in Charleston about once a month for work and I always make sure to have dinner there.

Hall's Chop House has good burgers.

My wife and I's favorite thing is going to Victor Social club, sit at the bar, get hammered, and order the bruschetta, the cheese board, and the oysters rockefeller. They mix great cocktails and the food is wonderful, because you can order the menus of the two restaurants that flank the bar.

Head to Home Team BBQ (either the West Ashley or Sullivan's Island location, I haven't been to the downtown location yet), and get some smoked wings and a Game Changer. If the burnt ends are on the menu, order a lot. They're delicious.

I'm leaving a lot of places out, but I'll edit as they come to me.

Im looking for a few nice places for before/after dinner drinks. Either of these places fit the bill? Right now, I have confirmed dinners at The Ordinary, McGrady’s, and Edmund’s Oast.

Husk bar is a great place for before/after dinner drinks.

Edmund's Oast has amazing beers. Before McGrady's you could hit up Vendue or Market Pavilion rooftop pending weather. There are a few places near the Ordinary to grab drinks - Stars rooftop, Cocktail Club (if it's open) and a relatively new rooftop bar, Pour (mainly beers).

Appreciate that. I’ve got Kaminsky’s for an after dinner drink spot as my wife wants to try their dessert drinks. It’ll likely be too chilly for rooftop bars after dinner (going in early December). I was hoping for a nice cocktail lounge type place. We are staying at The Vendue so it appears to be relatively centrally located downtown.

Rodney Scott is probably the best BBQ man in South Carolina and his restaurant is in Charleston on King Street.

Should have mentioned this place in my initial response. We had a lot of fun on their patio. Good food, strong beer selection.

Don’t know anything about holidays. Never been at that time of year.
