My pops and I are heading over to spend a day and catch a Rangers game. He's looking for something you could find on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Any non-chain hole-in-the-wall type places you guys recommend? Tia

Twisted Root Burgers in downtown Arlington. About 5-10 minutes from the stadium. Was also featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

There is a place just northwest of the Ballpark, Donnie's Hot Dog & Philly Steaks.
Not Burgers or BBQ, but it is a hole in the wall, and the food is good. Nothing fancy, large portions, and taste great. The lady that runs it is extremely friendly, tells everyone that she loves them. This is usually where I go when we head to the Ballpark, but I was trying to give you a burger joint!
Have fun.

Arlington is a vast wasteland of restaurant chains, used car lots and sleazy strip joints. Go to Pecan Lodge for barbecue or Angry Dog for burgers.....both in Deep Ellum in Dallas. If you have to eat in Arlington then Tom's Burgers is a nuevo old school type diner place.

Here is a map view of all the DFW places that have been on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives.

Out of those i would pick Pecan Lodge BBQ in downtown Dallas. Also Louies pizza is amazing.
On the list it has Chop House burgers in Arlington by the stadium, but i think its overrated. Maple and Motor, Angry Dog, and many others are much better IMO.
For BBQ- A up and coming underrated BBQ place by the stadium is Jambos BBQ Shack. I really like it and has a wide menu and decent prices.
Im not sure where you are staying, but there are tons of good BBQ and burger spots, just might not be within 10 minutes of the stadium.
Another suggestion if you want something Texas themed and unique is a place called Babes Chicken. Its family style with no menu. Unlimited sides and you choose the meat- Fried Chicken, Smoked chicken, catfish, pot roast, Chicken Fried Steak. Homemade biscuits are amazing. Its a really cool place we take people from out of town. its 5 minues from the ballpark.
Good luck

Just checking in. We are staying in Arlington tonight only because of the game. We will be heading east back to Louisiana tomorrow, so our options are wide open. Could be Arlington, could be Garland. As long as it's east of our hotel we 're making progress.

Idk how big it is but when the SO and I went to Dallas we went to Rodeo Goat. They had a great beer selection and the burger I had was excellent. They had some very creative ones on the menu. Look it up.

Wife and I are in that area tonight and Pecan lodge was crowded as normal. Well worth the wait though.
Hard Eight in Coppell is also very good BBQ

HopDaddy's in Dallas (Beltway at the Tollway - kind of hard to find) has really great burgers, beer and milkshakes.

Lockhart Smokehouse in Dallas was very good when I ate there last Nov.
Billy Bobs of Texas in Fort Worth might be worth a checkout..

Agree that Rodeo Goat is one of the best burgers in Dallas. Gotta try the Steaming Pile too.
Jakes Hamburgers in Uptown is also a solid burger choice. Rodeo Goat burgers are thick. Jakes are classic thin.
Someone mentioned Pecan Lodge. Lots of people like it, but I don't. Every time I've been, the meat has been really tough and fatty.
Lockhart Smokehouse, just south of downtown in the Bishop Arts District is my favorite.
