Best Hotels in Mobile

Hello. I'll be driving to south Florida in a few weeks and will likely be around Mobile in the evening one of the nights. What are the nicest hotels in Mobile? Would prefer something with a good onsite restaurant or a good restaurant or two within walking distance. Restaurants don't have to be anything fancy--just good food and beer/wine/cocktails available. Thanks!

Have you considered Spanish Fort instead of mobile . We liked it over there a good bit more than mobile.

Agreed. Unless you just want a high end hotel, cross the bay, take the first exit (US 98/Old Spanish Trail) and you have multiple options - Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Homewood Suites, and probably a few others I'm forgetting.
Granted, the food choices there are mostly chains, but there is one little place on 98 called Boudreaux's. Really good food and right on the water.

Battle House Renaissance.
Agreed. But agree that Spanish Fort is also a good option.

Battle House or whatever that Hilton is on Bienville Square.
Both downtown and practically on Dauphin.
Spanish Fort/Daphne would fit the bill fine too, but I've gotta say I do like downtown Mobile and think it might be worth it to stay at one of the nicer downtown hotels.

I like the historic rooms (especially the ones up front with balconies) at the Malaga Inn. More of a place to stay with your significant other than a stopping point while traveling though.

Besides the Battle House, The Admiral is a very nice hotel

I’ve stayed at the Battle House and Renaissance next door to the BH within the last year or so. Renaissance has better rooms. Battle House has better bar. Both and the Hampton across the street are nice enough.

Stay at the Battle House and make dinner reservations at Noja or Noble South. Get drinks at Haberdasher and hotel piano bar.
Renaissance, Hampton Inn or Hilton Garden Inn are also good.
Spanish Fort hotels are on interstate and they aren’t great. Nothing in walking distance unless you want fast food.

Thanks for all the great recommendations. I had my eye on Battle House initially, and it sounds like a good idea. It will be me and my 2 y/o on our way to Miami for a medical procedure for him, so trying to make it fun for him. In all honesty, he probably appreciates nice accommodations and good food as much as, or more than, I do.
I don’t know anything about Spanish Fort. What’s the draw? Sounds like it’s close to the interstate, which is appealing since we will have about 10 hours on the road, at least, after the Mobile area.

Nothing really. It’s another boring exurb/suburb off the interstate with the expected hotel and dining options. Nothing wrong with that, but it didn’t really fit what you were looking for in your OP.

Depends on your schedule and what time you are headed out of Mobile. It can put you ahead of the cluster that is beach traffic going through the tunnel and across the bay bridge.

If you don't mind travelling about 20-30 mins out of your way and if you will have more than just one night, consider the Grand in Fairhope. Your kid will have a pool, beach, putting green, and expansive campus to roam. The restaurants there aren't too bad either.

The two notable ones are Battle House Renaissance and the Marriott Grand @ Point Clear.
At the Battle House, if you are a lite sleeper wear earplugs in case they have a late night / early morning train. Not sure that is still the case. The rooms are nice. Walking distance to restaurants.
The Grand is decent, I assume the piano bar is still there... near the water. There is a main house ... prob booked at this point.
Stayed at both multiple times, but have not been there in a while.

With a 2 yr old ... that makes the Marriott Grand maybe more interesting... being able to walk down to the water (on the bay) behind the hotel.
