I would stay at the Roosevelt and walk to Galatoire's. If you want to be uptown I would stay at the Pontchartrain and go to Commander's Palace or Gautreau's..

Windsor Court for the hotel.

Dinner: Cochon, Compere Lapin, Coquette, Cavan, Clancy’s, Carrollton Market....damn, there are a lot of great restaurants that start with Cs. Oh...and Columns for pre or post dinner drinks.

Get a club level room at the Windsor Court. Book your wife a massage at their recently renovated spa.
Drinks at the bar early evening. Take Uber to Gautreau’s for dinner.

It’s certainly a perfectly lovely hotel for what it is, but I wouldn’t really say it “has character.”

It’s a Disneyfied English salon/tea room in an early 80s generic office tower.

Look up the Soniat House if you’re looking for something nice/high end with “character.”

the Roosevelt

This place is my least favorite of the high end hotels in Nola. The rooms and bathrooms are very small. The valet area gets to be a cluster fck on busy weekends.

Worst of all, it seems they did not replace the windows when the renovated it after Katrina. Depending on which floor/street your room is facing, the noise from the city is annoying as hell during the night.

It's not uptown, but my vote is The Saint Hotel.

Le Pavilion.

Assuming just the 2 of you, dinner at Brigtsen's.

And stop at Commander's on way back for coffee and desert. And the the maitre d' it's her birthday.

Le Pavillion as we knew it is gone except for parts of the lobby and the pool terrace. There is no more charm in the rooms and suites, they are now furnished like a Hyatt or Marriott. It's very sad to me after what remembered for the last 65 years.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. Did a hotel chain buy it?
