Looking to get some type of duffel/backpack for travel. It'd be nice if it had a handle and wheels but not necessary. I would like the straps to wear as a backpack as well.

Something that will hold about 3-5 days of clothing, with plenty of compartments for different things.

What do the traveling ballers use when traveling the globe?

It's a narrower category if you want a duffel with backpack ability, I think. Not sure how "baller" you can really get in that category.

However, I have a Patagonia Black Hole Duffel I use for fly fishing and outdoor gear that converts nicely into a backpack. They have several sizes, although the smallest one doesn't have the backpack straps.

It's a great bag, bombproof, but not sure if it is a look you'll want or not.

Filson. But it sounds like you need a Patagonia.

Does this fit as a carry-on?

The 60 is I think, which is the smallest one w/ the backpack straps. I have the 90 and it is not.

I'm not necessarily concerned with the looks as much as the functionality.

Well the Patagonia fits your functionality request well, if the sizing works.

FWIW I have several Filson bags that often get left at home on longer trips. I love the stuff, but it's just not as practical some of the time. Filson is making some bags in a lighter nylon fabric, but nothing like you're looking for.

I use a Tom Bihn Aeronaut 45 pretty much exclusively. Able to load up everything for a 6 day trip to the PNW next week no issues. Whatever you end up with, look into the one bag carry websites for packing tips / techniques. Really can stretch the amount of stuff you can get into a bag.

I have an Osprey Porter 46, it is meant for more city/air travel than the outdoors.

The Filson bags don't stick out, which is nice when you're travelling.

The Patagonia and North Face duffles are really good though. I've had my Black Hole for, god, fifteen years now and it's still in great shape.

Do you have this one? How many days can you pack in it?

I really like that bag......add the attachment daylite bag and I think I'd be set.

I've got a Kelty bag that I use as a backpack/carry-on that also turns into a duffel bag. I can't recommend it highly enough. It's versatile enough to use as carry on luggage but also made for outdoor activities. I've used it on two separate 2 week trips to Europe, and it's also become my standard go to carry-on item on shorter weekend trips. I just turned it into a duffel and checked it though on flight froms Naples to Seattle yesterday.

I have used an Osprey Farpoint 55 since 2013. For most jets, it fits and I've not had any problems on international carriers.

If I'm on a small regional CJ jet or something, it has to be gate checked, but so does just about everybody's bag.

I can fit a lot of crap in there, a pair of shoes, flip flops, couple pairs of pants, shorts, shirts, undies, socks, two snorkel sets, etc. Pretty much about 7 to 10 days worth of clothes.

That's not counting the day back that zips off which I put my camera and other valuables in.

I have filson duffle and briefcase. Both are excellent. Their new backpacks seem nice, but are very pricey. There are many solid option for less than half the price.

I also have a northface duffle with backpack straps. It's a bulletproof bag, but it has flaws. I would buy the patagonia one vs nf purely to have a small side compartment. The last time I looked, the patagonia bags came in very shiny colors which I don't like.
