Who's had one before? Start going down runway at full speed then immediately come to a stop. First and only one for me just now on ATL-BTR, engine overheated... Been a fun day trying to get back from europe to LA, boss said he'd pick up my bag from baggage claim thankfully

I've only had an aborted landing. We were about 200 feet from the ground at MSY and pilots lost visual of the runway due to fog. The thrust up and back was fun.

Ah only one of those i've had was at dfw, the jump up is fun. Now just as we get on the 847pm flight and taxi to the north runway, air traffic control blocks all north/westbound traffic due to lightning. I give up today

I don't fly that often, but I had an aborted landing on Lufthansa into Charlotte from Munich less than 200 ft off the ground. We were darn near wheels touching. I'll never forget because as soon as he dropped the hammer with the power, literally instantly 5 people around me threw up. Literally 5, one was a kid about 12 across the aisle from me. There was a strong wind like 35-40 mph and it blew the plain off the runway.

1 aborted takeoff- 1998 Dubuque to Rockford IL. I was 17 traveling by myself on Mesaba airlines prop jet. I may have needed to change drawers.

This year I have had 2 aborted landings.

1) ATL-MSY... coming in to land... I make that flight at least twice a week and felt we were a touch high... nose up and gun it... pilot says we were gonna be long so we decided to swing around

2) No kidding 2 flights later... ATL-DCA... Potomac approach from NW... nose up and hard bank... not the Potomac approach bank for those who know the approach. We were told to clear airspace by Air Force one taking off. This one wasn't too close but was a clear oh shite.

Only aborted landing for me also. I was rather hungover on an ATL->MSY (coming from Montego Bay) and have no idea of the reason. I recall seeing the familiar surroundings of MSY and then quickly doing my damndest to hold everything in as quickly went back up. We circled for what seemed like forever and then finally landed with no issues.

In 400 or so segments the last 6.5 years, plus probably another 100 in the 25 years before that, I've never had an aborted takeoff or landing. My dad has probably 50 flights in his life, and he's had 3 (all aborted landings I believe) that he's told me about. Weird how that works.

I'd be happy not having any.

It is crazy. I have flown 450-500 flights since 2014 and none in that time period except the two in three flights this year.

Aborted takeoff at JFK a couple of years ago. Early flight out on jetBlue. Engines were humming and we were moving until the pilots put the brakes on. Evidently another plane crossed our runway on accident, which caused the brakes to be applied, which caused us to head back to the terminal to have the brakes inspected. Our luck of being first for takeoff pushed us right back to the end of the line.

Son I have done 54 flights this year so far. Not a stat to be jealous of. I am in pace for 240 flight segments.

Don't be. But of the 240... as of now all will be Delta. 60 segments through march are all Delta. They are great to me

My wife wants to move to Birmingham to be near family. I'd probably be in the 120 range annually if we did that, which for now is enough to get her to not bring it up too much. My 60-70 already keeps me just shy of insane.

For example... 75% of my domestic flights in 2016 were upgraded. Delta debacle in August netted me $800 in vouchers with 1 call. I earn about 600k miles per year between flights, SPG crossover, and delta Amex... my flight to Scotland this August is 320 (after a voucher and a credit) and I already used a global upgrade to confirm first class. Never lost a bag... only check one a few times a year though. What can I say... if there is a delay they put me at the top of the list to redirect.

Cuse, sorry for your shiteé travel day. To Better Days, mon frere.

No aborted takeoffs but an aborted landing at National (now Reagan) in the '80s, not long after the Air Florida crash. I don't even remember which carrier but I was conscious of the Potomac and everything else down there. We circled around and the second approach went fine.

One go around as a passenger coming into LGA on RWY 22, the over water approach. Capt. came on the PA and said another aircraft entered the runway as we were on final.

Another go around on Aeromexico from CUN to MSY. Pilot never said why. We just circled Lake Pontchatrain for about 30 minutes.

Luckily, as a pilot, I haven't had to experience either besides practice and simulations.

Really glad I've never had to experience this. I'm sure it's really common but I would not be able to keep calm if I had an aborted landing
