Spinoff of the thread about Rosemary...

We went back in February to site see and enjoy 30A....we never spent a night out there. We enjoyed everything about the area and all of the shops and places to eat, but we definitely wanted to go back for a longer getaway and bring the kids along.

Any hidden gems? Good places to stay that isn't too pricey anywhere along 30A? We may take a long weekend trip out there towards the end of the summer or early august.

TIA!!!

How many kids and what ages? If smaller and younger, you might be able to rent a carriage house in Rosemary. They generally sleep between 2-5 cozily and are less expensive than renting a big house or a condo.

Also, seacrest beach is right there and a similar vibe, you can bike or walk to rosemary in minutes. Seaside and the towns west will be a little bit more busy. Greyton is super laid back.

What are you looking for? House, Condo, Beach Front, etc.

Ive always just booked through either Rosemary Beach Rentals or VRBO. The Rosemary Beach Rental site will allow you to search by carriage house or condo or house and dates. Try that

whatever works really. nothing too over the top, but also nothing in the dumps.

If I remember correctly there wasn't many condos along that ride. If you wanted condos it was more in PCB or Destin etc..

That's why I'm asking here whats the best route for anywhere in 30A...whether its in Seaside, Rosemary, Grayton Beach, places inbetween...

In Rosemary/Seacrest you have High Pointe Resort which is beach front condos and then across the 30A is Seacrest which is a mix of condos and homes.

Grayton is probably the most laid back but least kid friendly

Seaside will cost you the most.

I would check VRBO and stay in the Alys BEACH/seacrest/Rosemary area.

Seagrove is an option if you want to be close to seaside but not pay seaside prices.

Anything west of Water Color while nice, isn't really as nice as the middle to eastern end of 30A.

Check out VRBO for rentals. Good cheap place we stayed a few years ago is the Inn/Villas at Seacrest. It's right in between Rosemary and Alyce Beach, so good for bike riding and some good restaurants nearby. Only bad thing is it's a short golf cart ride to the beach. We rented a studio apartment there for $100/night.

I will check this out since it's just me and my husband.

Also check out the village of South Walton. It's basically in Rosemary beach and has multiple restaurants and bars on the property and is a block walk to all of the Rosemary beach restaurants. Also has golf carts that bring you to the private Boardwalk. Plus, if you don't mind a 5 minute walk down the beach you can practically have it all to yourself. It was less than a hundred a night for my wife and I and had everything we needed. I highly recommend it for a quick couples getaway.

I totally disagree. Grayton is far from the main road. It doesn't have resort-like amenities, but it has a small town feel. You can rent a house with a backyard and a porch swing. The thing that makes Grayton so kid-friendly, is that everything is walkable, and the beach is easily accessed from the town - no dunes to walk up and over. Also, Western Lake is right there and there is an area of the lake right where it goes up closes to the gulf that has some beach sand that is perfect for small kids (especially if the surf is to high for small kids).

There are some reasonably priced cottages on Cottage St in Grayton that are great for small families and there is a neighborhood pool, as well.

That might be the place I was thinking of. Thought it was Seacrest, but pretty sure it's Village of South Walton. I know there is a small market and Mexican restaurant in the place...and some small booths on an open lawn.

High Pointe Resort

Easily this. Closest to the beach and less beach density compared to Rosemary and Seacrest. Best Resort Pool along 30A IMO. High Pointe is hands down the best option for your $.

It's confusing because Seacrest is sort of in two places on 30A because of how things developed. If I'm not mistaken there are a lot of smaller places for rent (1BRs and Studios) in that general vicinity.

Honestly, I'd stay anywhere from Inlet Beach to Grayton and generally have done so. For nostalgic reasons I still like Seagrove, although from there down to Rosemary is all part of the same thing for me. Seacrest and Seagrove likely have the most beachfront options. The only place I haven't stayed is in Seaside proper, but I'm abnormal in that I hate Seaside.

I'd expect the high rises in Seagrove, given their age, are probably a little cheaper than most other beachfront options. They may also be better about minimums.
