I've got the Fire TV set up running Kodi (which is awesome, thanks for the recommendations from this board)... But the remote that came with the Fire TV is clunky.

Is anyone using a wireless mouse/keyboard combo with it? Or a remote with keyboard on it?

Slightly off topic: how well does Kodi run on the fire TV, performance-wise? I'm using an old win7 desktop to run Kodi, but a small device would be much more convenient and not be an eye sore under our TV. I bought a fire TV stick, but it takes a lot longer to go through menus than the pc.

As for your question, there's was a previous thread back around Black Friday or the holidays for a $10 Logitech wireless keyboard (K400r) from sams club that people were recommending for the fire TV. It works great for my Kodi pc.

Runs like hot knife through butter. Better than my ATV2 was before I updated it and killed XBMC on it. Of course it will be limited by the ISP speed you have.

that amazon remote is bluetooth. i had an existing harmony infrared remote. i bought a flirc dongle...heh, dongle...and programmed it. eventually. turns out all the info specific to the harmony remotes is available on the website's FAQ. wish i had noticed that the first time.

eta: misread. sorry, no, i don't have a keyboard. use the phone app to type sometimes.

i still have the ATV2 as well, and the new 14.0 helix runs much better than the previous versions on the ATV2, i find. then again, i have a very stripped down kodi where the only plugin installed is Genesis, but i'm not getting kicked out and randomly restarted all the time anymore.

I've only used it on the Fire TV but everything runs really fast with no issues.

I have the iOS app for my Fire Stick. Tried it out the first time this weekend, and it was great. I was searching for a show, and am able to type way faster on my iPhone than the clunky move and select with the limited remote control that came with it. It also lets you swipe up/down and left/right on your phone's screen to move through the menus. And a single tap on the screen to select once you've highlighted what you want.

Agreed.

Also, you might be able to get a programmable remote to work. I can control my fire tv stick with my lg tv's remote.

Also, you still have the voice search function with the app.
