Wifi Controlled Lights

I want to control the lights in my house with my phone. But I don't want to buy all the additional attachments or bulbs that are compatable with specific systems (Philips hue, wemo, etc). My goal is to be able to turn on the outdoor lights without going inside to flip the switch (lazy, I know). I was thinking there had to be something you could add at the light switch, or even splice into the power line that could allow you to control power via a mobile device.
Has anyone heard of anything like this? My quick google search brought up nothing.

Google z-wave and see if that'd be something that would work. You would need a controller. I have mine set up through my alarm company, Vivint, but I think that they are banned in Louisiana from their days as APX Alarm. I can control the lights I have set up from anywhere in the world as long as I have wifi.

You're going to have to commit to something. You can't just control lights wirelessly without some sort of interface.
There are quite a few wifi light switches on the market that would fit your needs.

You can check out the MyQ line of products. You will need the Liftmaster 828LM Garage Door Opener Internet Gateway and Liftmaster 823lm Remote Light Switch. You can also add the LiftMaster 888LM Security+ 2.0 MyQ Wall Control to control your garage door opener. Both Chamberlain and Liftmaster have products that do the same thing and are interchangeable, so check the prices on both. I think usually the Liftmaster ones are cheaper.

The Wink app will allow users to switch off the lights from their smartphones, create a personal lighting experience by easily adjusting brightness settings to create individual themes and environments, and remotely turn specific lights on to give the appearance that someone is home, which can be useful when you’re on a vacation.
The Link lightbulbs will be available in three popular type of lighting applications:
60-watt replacement soft white (2700K) LED bulb, or A19 shape, commonly used for general lighting in table and floor lamps.
Indoor soft white (2700K) floodlight LED, or BR30 shape, installed as downlighting found in dining room, living room or other entertainment spaces.
Indoor/outdoor-rated bright white (3000K) spotlight LED, or PAR 38, used for outdoor security or spotlight.
