I feel like I'm probably going to get fricked on this.
I was and insider but one build behind. Upgraded to 10240, then apparently upgraded to the RTM.
Now I'm on 10 pro but with no activation.

The BSOD says "Internal Power Error". From googling it looks like a few people with HP laptops have had the issue as well, but if you know how to boot into safe mode its not that big of a problem to fix.
This is why Microsoft now forcing you to update is a bad idea. If the update causes issues with your box you're in the shite.

Trust me, I was gonna wait a few weeks, but when I saw it was already good to install yesterday morning, I said screw it

You have an entire year to do the update. Thats hardly "forcing" anyone.

Let's start a list of what Apple forces you to do...

Installed Windows 10 yesterday from Windows 7 and now my computer won't turn on. Black screen of death.

Sure. Let me know when they FORCE you to do an update that might pork your box...
I'l hang up and listen.
Ok. You're on the clock...
ETA: BTW, I'm not trying to derail this thread into a Mac Windows deal. I'm pondering at least 4-5 Windows 10 installs at my office on older boxes. Mandatory update concerns me.

Windows isn't forcing you to do anything.
I'm putting 10 on one computer and keeping my other on 7 for now.

They changed the default scroll direction to act like a Mac
Can you tell me what this means?
2 finger scrolling on the touchpad. They've inversed the default direction. I like to pull my fingers downward to scroll down, and upward to scroll up. Apple's default is inverted, and Windows 10 default is too. It's not a big deal, I went into my Synaptics device properties and changed it.

Good things: cmd box is resizable finally. TCPv4 properties is near the top of interface properties so I don't have to scroll down every time I want to change my IP address.

It's not a mandatory update

Once you upgrade to 10 updates are mandatory.

I've been running it since January. I haven't had any problems that I didn't have with Windows 8.1. If you upgrade, you'll have to reinstall the Apple keyboard driver for the function keys to work.

seriously?
my brother is still trying to run OS-5 on his iPhone and virtually ZERO apps will work on that.
i'd say that's a pretty big gun to put to a user's head.

security updates.
and only on 10 home. you can defer updates in 10 pro

I don't see the big deal with mandatory security updates anyway, especially for home users. The only gripe I ever had with automatic updating was that it auto-rebooted as well, but that can be disabled in 10.

Good deal. Are you using a virtual machine or did you partition the drives yourself?
I had a few minor glitches with 10.1 Pro updates on PC but, now they are worked out, and it definitely runs better then 8.1 Pro IMO.

I upgraded, like the new start menu. Haven't played around with it enough before I left for work
Can I delete the "Windows.old" partition on my C: drive? It's taking up space

Well it's not a bad idea. Keeps everyone together and your security up to date. Not sure why anyone would be against this.

This is also the first Windows install or upgrade I've ever done that did no overwrite my grub bootloader.
