Currently, I have a hard on for the Sonus system. heard amazing things about it. Every time I go to best buy I go to Magnolia and just stare and drool. But is that system that the best home system?
I need a system to complete my living room step up ( mainly for sports viewing and video gaming)
Am I overlooking other great systems? ( Amazon links would be awesome)

Sonos is more for whole home audio. I would get (or you may have already) a normal 5.1 or 7.1 system (standalone receiver and additional speakers/sub) for your sports/media viewing, then buy Sonos components as you want for other rooms in your house.
What kind of budget do you have in mind? You can really spend as much or as little as you want.

If you have a $1,000 - 1,500 budget you can build a HT system using the Infinity P363 speakers which are getting rave reviews for their relatively flat frequency response. Then get the matching center channel and some in ceiling surrounds. A Denon receiver (or NAD if your budget is a little higher). SVS or Hsu subwoofer.

I'm willing to pay $1400 for the the Sonus System. So I guess, I'm around there with budget. I have a 5.1, but it's older and the wiring in my house is a messy and pretty ugly. So time for an upgrade

Just to clarify, Sonos or Sonus? Their are 2 different products out there with those names.

Sonus Faber and it's quite a bit more expensive (and better sounding) than Sonos.

Sonos is to the Tech Board as Yeti is to the Outdoor Board.

Sonus is overrated. It's like the new Bose.

I just bought it for the sticker. I put it one of my Def Tech towers.

The Sonus Faber stuff looks a bit too much for my taste...

Most of the Sonus Faber' loudspeaker line is $20k to $250k...they are an upscale Italian speaker company. They did, last year, launch an affordable line which runs around $1800/pair.

Says you. They have a great niche for people who don't like wires and want to listen to radio & internet music + tv sound.
I have just a play 5 and love it. I also have an independent 7.1 system but the sonos definitely meets a niche that the normal speakers don't.
99/100 people can't tell the difference in sound and most people don't want to be blown the frick away listening to the news every night. I have to turn off Zone B and Zone 2 when not watching movies so that I don't deafen my kid every night.
I almost wish I had just purchased the Sonos Playbar + Sub + Speakers for what I need.

I dunno who downvoted you but that was a solid suggestion. I would add though that if you get a good enough sub, you can just buy bookshelf speakers instead and let the sub take the low end.
