What must a 2015 flagship Android phone have?

I've been waiting for the next big thing to drop on Verizon, and wondering what should be a deal-breaker before I commit 2 years. Since last fall I've said I'm not buying a phone that doesn't launch with 5.0. The sales people keep telling me "well the Droid Turbo will get 5.0". My response is that a typical phone gets 2 upgrades. If it launches with K, gets upgraded to L in a few months, then it will probably get M, but not N. If I wait for something that launches with L, I can hope to get O before it's time for a new phone.
What else should I hold out for? Is a 64 bit processor a must have? Should I set the floor at 3GB RAM? I'm far from an every year upgrader. I purchased an OG Droid used over a year after it was released. Next phone was a Droid 4 that is now 3 years old. If they released a Droid 5, I would be all over it, love the slide out keyboard.

14nm node technology processor.

Not yet, but eventually. And really, that only depends on whether you want/need to take advantage of a 64-bit optimized feature that doesn't exist yet. It's less about needing 64-bit and more about making sure you have one of the upper-end CPUs that will serve as the current ceiling for app optimization/performance, and I'm betting that 2015 flagship Android phones are all gonna be 64-bit anyway.

Same here... I've been waiting for them to offer the Nexus 6 and was told this week from Verizon that it will be available on 2/26
By that time, I am not sure if I should just wait for this, if it happens?

My youngest is the same way - I think went from a 4 to an LG Optima because she's a broke college student and the keyboard is her key feature.
I would get a Droid Turbo in your position or wait til the Nexus 6 drops and decide then.
64-bit is almost a "must have" but we're not there yet.

64 bit processor
3 gb ram
lollipop
Looks like the LG G4 will have a 3k screen, HTC M9 will have incredible build quality, but I would go with a Moto phone so you get quick updates. I care more about stock Android and fast updates than a great camera, but that is just me.

Motorola is now owned by Lenovo. I'm not sure how quick future updates will be hitting the streets.

Motorola is in partnership with Google on the Nexus 6 and the next iteration of it late in 2015, so I would say Motorola will be getting updates very fast.

The Nexus is a phone made for Google running pure android. Any new Motorola phones are being made for/by Lenovo. Lenovo is supposed to start shipping 64-bit Intel phones. We'll see when Android becomes 64-bit.

The next high end Qualcomm processor is the Snapdragon 810 and it is only a 20nm process. But Qualcomm is currently having overheating issues with the processor and Samsung has apparently dropped the 810 for the Galaxy S6 phone. Qualcomm stocks took a beating at the earnings call last week when the CEO revealed this.

I think that would be hard for me to pass up.

Hopefully Motorola continues to stay close to vanilla, which would allow for quick updates.
