Walmart called out Amazon for making its lower prices on Prime Day available only to Prime members, who pay $99 a year to be part of the service that offers free two-day shipping and access to video streaming and music. In a blog post slated to go up Monday, Walmart plans to say that it is "standing up for our customers and everyone else who sees no rhyme or reason for paying a premium to save."

"We just don't believe you should pay a fee to get a better price," said Walmart spokesperson Ravi Jariwala.

Heads-up for all you online shoppers! It appears that Walmart Stores across the country will begin testing a new unlimited shipping service for online shoppers this summer promised to beat the cost of Amazon Prime! Rumor has it that the Walmart shipping subscription service will cost around $50 per year and promises that your items will arrive in 3 days or less.

Consumers win in this case.

Isn't a bit hypocritical of Walmart to target Amazon in this way though when Amazon is giving away free 30 day Prime accounts for the sale, and Sam's, which is owned by Walmart, charges a fee to shop in the store?

Exactly, but don't underestimate the ignorance of Walmart's target market

i'm sure i'll get bashed for this, but the last 3 things i purchased (pool chlorine tabs, replacement basket, baking soda) were all cheaper from walmart.com than amazon.

because they came from the 'walmart marketplace' i didnt pay shipping or tax.

amazon now charges sales tax in TN so its a less viable option for me these days.

If they ever go all out 1 hour delivery, they will probably be in every state.

That isn't how Sam's Club works...

Your premise would be that I can get a coke at Walmart for 1$ or pay 50$yearly and get that coke for less than 1$ at Sams..

In reality, I would pay 50$ for Sams and buy 100 cokes in order to get them for less than 1$

You don't have to be a Sam's Club member to order from Sam's Club online.

I would say that's the same thing. One price for members of Sam's Club or Amazon Prime, and a higher price for non-members.

I can buy prime and order one thing for a lower price

if I join sams, I can't just get one thing..

On many things you can. They don't make you buy a dozen televisions, laptops, blu-ray players, etc. And I would venture to guess this will be a lot of what Amazon will move during this sale on Wed.
