7. wifi music streaming is the shite. frick bluetooth speakers

My one experience with a wifi speaker was bad. I have no issues with bluetooth really, so i am glad i don't know what I'm missing.

The only thing that I guess I'd get out of wifi(And I'm not even sure about that) is going from back porch to kitchen when cooking. Now, I have to choose one over the other.

Well the products I've used with PlayFi didn't sound great, I know there are many options, and the app was real clunky. Both things can be improved upon but it's not as good as the other systems imo.

BT range sucks. Can't even walk from the living room to the kitchen without the speaker breaking up and if I have to take a call and we're sitting on the screened porch bye bye music for everyone else.

BT audio is almost useless unless you plan to leave the phone right beside the speaker and in that case you might as well just buy a cable and enjoy much higher quality.

That's why I've always said I hate using my phone as a source. Glad you get it now.

well technically i still am since sonos provides the option to use your phone's app for spotify and google music.

in both cases, however, it doesn't intefere with my normal use of the phone and thats really nice.

I freaking hate BT as a protocol. Outside of using it in the car or connecting my earbuds to my phone i avoid it like the plague.

I have heard they are coming out with bluetooth 5.0 that's supposed to vastly improve bluetooth. We shall see.

Glad to hear you like it still. It was one of those ah ha moments for me too. AVR..zone2...select source...pita. I got a Sonos connect amp and bam...was in love.

I'm more a fan of the connect amp with my own speakers. For instance I have one hooked to 4 def tec outdoor speakers and a sub on my back porch...it gets loud and sounds awesome.

Do yourself a favor CAD...save up and get a sub. Pricy but worth it!

SONOS is great I'm glad it's working out. It is hands down the best solution for whole home audio for 95% of folks out there. I'm addicted. Plus no one said you have to pay full price. Best Buy open box during sales is the way to go imo.

oh I've done it all. I had like 17 sources hooked to my AVR once upon a time and I spent all my time fiddling with it. The SO HATED it and I couldn't argue with her because she was right.

Right. Seems simple to us but in reality for most folks it's not. Not to mention different audio levels for different inputs.

Those Def Tech speakers jam.

CAD might think your set up is dumb because it's still like a traditional install with speaker wires. I'm sure CAD just unplugs his one speaker, drags it outside, plugs it on an outlet, fires up his phone app, and calls it automation.

The cops would agree........I'm looking at you shitty snowflake neighbor....but I digress

I had some axiom outdoor speakers at my last house...while they had great bass response I wanted to try the def tec out. They blew them away in volume and clarity (way more sensitive so didn't need to turn up as much) but they did not have quite the bass of the axioms. New house the Sonos sub solved that with ease.

To each there own...I have a play 1 for a easy alarm clock for the kid and that's my travel speaker. But everything else is def tec ceiling/inwall speaker hooked up to a connect amp, 1 connect hooked to my AVR 7.2 setup and some playbars. I'm a fan boy...and my garage bumps more than some of yalls houses

You win. That's like 5k worth of equipment. Also, you're house must be 3x the size of mine to have that many speakers.

Connect amps. Thats what im trying to get across...the sonos speakers are nice and convient but you can get some real sound out of one of these amps. I can do 2x50w or 4x50 (bridge).

Some of it...I could have but it would be a one man show and long taking. I had a company do the bulk while building and worked with them in the planing of it all.

not trying to...there are some serious setups on this site that I have seen. While it looks like a lot some of those home automation type setups wind up costing as much. I got them here and there over a cpl years and got the rest from the install company and now its part of the house note. I also reused a lot of stuff I have had for years. Like in the garage is some SVS cylinder subs from 17 years ago and a 500w x 2 samson amp. Still bumps ITs not that its that big of a house I just have music in a lot of areas....becasue its so easy with sonos.

No lie...but not a 1. Thats what im talking about...I have seen some really nice looking systems posted up in here. Dont recall whose it was but it was sure prudy.
