Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and S6 also Samsung Pay

Uses world’s first 1440p/VP9 hardware based codec to stream high resolution video without sucking so much power.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge will be available globally starting from April 10. Color options include White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (S6 only), and Green Emerald (S6 Edge only).

Watched the event. Excited about the 14nm cpu and DDR4 RAM. Hope they come out with some external battery accessories now that they have the battery built in.

Can someone explain the edge to me? I don't see why anyone would want this. I accidentally press shite now because of the wall to wall screen.

Interesting that they are going the glass back route and effectively removing the ability to swap batteries, which is what I thought was a big selling point of the Galaxy S series. The glass back is just another thing that will break. Plastic isn't the devil.

The edge is essentially a phone with two displays. The main display is a 1440p screen, and then the curved edge part is a separate display that can be customized for menus, navigation, sidebar app access, etc., the idea being to free up the main screen as much as possible and natively make multi-tasking a little more convenient.
Having never even held one, I'm not totally sold on the concept, because as you said I'd probably end up accidentally pressing shite with a rogue thumb or palm -- based on the way it looks in pictures, at least. It may not be a problem at all. I'm guessing there is a least some sort of learning curve in terms of how you hold it, though.
I can see the potential usefulness of a dual-display phablet. This may not be the best implementation, but it might be the start of something different in future smartphone innovation other than more pixels and better cameras.

What is everyone's opinion as to the best option between the S6, Edge, M9, and iPhone 6?
I currently have the M7, so the M9 was my first choice It might not be a big step up from the M8, but it is from the M7.
One of my biggest wants is the best camera available. The M7 is a HUGE let down in this area, and I'm worried about the same from the M9.

I have the Note Edge and this never happens. I love it. My home screen is completely clear and I use the Edge to scroll through panels. It's actually very useful and more than just a gimmick. One simple example is when the phone rings when I am doing something on the main screen, the Edge displays who's calling and if I want to accept or decline without screwing up the main screen. Now the 2 edges could be a problem, but I hear they won't be the same as the Note Edge.

I've been going the Samsung S route the last few phones and have had no issues. Love the hardware. Could do without TouchWiz but never found it to be as much of an issue as others.
Interested in the Edge concept. I could see some useful applications. Noticifcation side bar, nightime bedside clock without having to wake up the phone, color coded contacts when the phone is face down, etc. The 14nm CPU and DDR4 RAM make it stand out at the moment.
Will be buying a new phone in April. Looking at the S6 Edge but interested in the M9 as well. What is LG doing? Nexus? Don't really think I can wait until late summer/fall to pull the trigger.

Will wait for the CNET review. I've got the S5 now and I don't see the point in buying the S6 just yet.

The plastic backs also allowed expandable memory through a micro SD slot, which now looks to be gone from the S series

Since the S6 will be compatible with the Gear VR, I suggest anyone interested in getting both to go with at least the 64GB model. You can eat up a lot of space with the VR apps and video.

I'm in the same boat. I've still got an S3 so anything is an upgrade, but I feel the S6 edged out the M9 today.
