I want to have an outdoor TV setup, but not a TV that is mounted on my house for a couple of reasons. My backyard has a patio with full size couch and two swivel/reclining outdoor chairs, all face away from my house towards a pool. I don't want to change this arrangement. Behind the couch is the house and the wall is pretty much all windows providing a nice view of my backyard from inside the house so I don't want to obstruct it permanently. Also, the wall behind my couch is mostly windows so couldn't mount a tv there anyway.

I have been thinking about a mobile tv stand that I could bring out when I want the tv out there and store in the garage when I'm not using it. I imagine I'd mostly be using it for football weekends in the fall. This would keep me from having to mount a tv on the house and would not be permanent obstruction of the pool view from inside the house. Other than an extension cord to power the setup, I'd like to avoid many wires. What is the best way to go about this?

I was thinking this mobile tv stand which can hold up to 65 inch tv and a slingbox connected to my wifi. I could do Apple TV but I want to be able to watch cbs, fox, nbc; which unlike ESPN I don't know for sure if those are available for streaming via my direct tv subscription. I guess the tv could also be a smart tv and stream through it with the tv itself connected to my wifi.

Tv Stand

This may be an off the charts trashy move/setup. Any other ideas on how to do this?

I've also considered a projector but that of course would limit the times I could watch tv.

Is the patio covered? Can you do a ceiling mount?

Patio is covered. Was trying to avoid mounting anything. I also feel like with my patio depth it would be a strain on the neck if mounted high or would obstruct the view of backyard/pool if hung lower.

I'm thinking a wall mount attached to a pipe that can be dropped in a pipe sleeve might be your best bet. Do you a have a spot you can pour a little concrete footing or maybe insert the sleeve in the existing concrete deck?

Years ago I looked at TVs designed to be outdoors and the pricing was outrageous.

I was working with an AV guy at the time, and his advice was to spend minimal money on a regular TV that I could put under a patio cover. If the TV gets ruined by rain blowing into it or just by sitting outside, I'm not out much and I can buy another.

So given that, I'd just buy a little table and put a TV on a mount on the patio.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing and been looking at similar carts. I like the idea that it is mobile and I can move it into my garage and out of it wherever I want whenever I want. There are multiple places in my backyard I could watch TV from.

I was thinking of just using a smart TV for Playstation Vue and then hooking up an antenna to the TV to hopefully get all of the local channels for CBS/ABC. Hook it all up to a surge protector and tie it to the cart so all I'd have to do is just run the extension cord to it like you were saying.

My friend is telling me its gonna be trashy but I figure for right around $100, it'll be worth the risk to see if I like it or not.

Why not mount a projector on the ceiling and get a powered drop screen
