Optical out to 3.5?

The TV I'm using for outdoor use has no audio outputs other than optical. The TV speakers just don't work well without a wall behind them. I cannot get sound out of my tablet when running micro HDMI to HDMI when watching WatchESPN other than to the TV speakers.
Can I find such a cable or converter in a store or is Amazon/eBay my only source for this?

I really don't think you'll find it in the store and if you do it will be 10x the price.

There's only one game left where I'll even use it. Maybe get one for next season.

I bought this on amazon the other day:

If you order with prime, it will be in your hands on Wednesday. Make sure you get the RCA to 3.5 cord.
Also, if you have a bluetooth speaker, you may be able to play the sound through that from your tablet. We did that in the past with one that I had when using Watch ESPN on my laptop.

quote:Never thought about that. Not sure if the sound from the broadcast is being sent out that way. I know the aux output becomes dead when using the micro HDMI. I may test that out tonight. Thanks!

What kind of tablet are you using?

Lots of soundbars have optical in...that may be your cheapest/best solution for sound.

Packing ours out there got vetoed.

Just get a DAC (digital to analog converter) pretty common item these days with Apple TVs. Then just get an RCA audio to 3.5.
Cheap and easy

I was talking about buying the cheapest one with an optical in and going that route for sound.
