Your phone carrier can't block tethering apps, which turn your phone into an Internet hotspot for your laptop or tablet.

So if this is the case how do I turn the hotspot on on my note 4? Att wouldn't let me turn it on because of unlimited data plan.

What you just described translates to:

would you rather have the free market decide which websites flourish or allow the government to decide for you?

So when Netflix can afford to pay for the "fast lane" and no other startup competitor can afford to, how exactly is that the "free market" deciding ?

Net Neutrality is supposed to stop the above from happening.

I have given up on debating NN with the people who think its a bad idea.

Arguing with a bunch of people who don't understand infrastructure and technology is pointless. All they see is gov't so its bad.

My feelings exactly. When I read people trying to argue NN is a bad thing; I just view them as very ignorant on the subject, and refuse to change their opinion. When ATT and Verizon join forces on a topic, that should tell you all you need to know.

there is no "free market" when it comes to ISPs

thus the need for net neutrality

some of you are hopelessly ignorant on this

+1

I love the irony in calling someone ignorant after exclaiming that the ISP market is "free."

Does net neutrality do anything to stop a wired broadband provider from implementing monthly data caps?

Man creates Government
Government creates Internet
Government approves ISP monopolies
ISP Monopolies try to kill Man
Government tries to stop ISP Monopolies
Man gets mad at Government.

except it's not free market when the vast majority of ISP's power comes from government granted franchise agreements (monopolies) that preclude true open competition.
