I have a guitar power amp. A 1/4 plug on the end of an audio cable came apart inside the input. How the hell do I get it out of there without breaking apart the amp and taking the power board to a repair shop?

needle nose pliers

makes sure to grab the "meat" of the connection - it should be in the middle where the chords use to be soldered. I've had this happen a few times, it's not to bad.

If you don't have anything to grab on to, put the needle nose pliers in the middle, and apply "open" pressure then pull out.

Can you post a couple pics? You might be able to tap into it with a small drill bit, set a screw in, and pull it(screw w/ male piece attached) out?

Sheesh, if you are in BR just hit Southern Electronics. (Not-so) Scenic Highway just N of Choctaw. Tell Dewey you want a cheap, thin pair of needlenose pliers. Great little tool to keep around.

I thought I posted the $6.99 pair?

You can get something similar at your local home store for under $10.

Thanks, all, for the suggestions. Necessity is the mother of invention. I took a small hex key, shot a dab of hot glue on the end and carefully inserted it into the opening until seated. Waited a few minutes for it to set and then pulled out the tip of the plug that had come apart.

Saved myself from buying a $69 set of pliers!
