I am excited/nervous haha. I am coming from Sprint and I already had a Nexus 5x. Anyone else using the service? How has your experience been?

If coming from Sprint, then your service should improve dramatically.

I have AT&T, but I also have a Fi sim. I love that I can pause the service and only pay for the days I have it turned on. I haven't canceled AT&T because the Fi service is still sketchy near my work. The wifi calling helps a lot, but I'm often out of wifi range and like having cell service. That said, I have found spots around where I live where I get much better service with Fi than I do with AT&T.

Very cool. When using Fi do you prefer to use hangouts or Google messenger? I know with hangouts it allows you to text using any of your devices but that does use your data.

I've been using Project Fi with a Nexus 6P for a month and love it. I used .083 GB this month since everywhere I would use the data for anything has wifi. I notice some strangeness with wifi calling every once in a while but that's no biggie.

I have it and it was cool to have service all the way from Texas to BR. I got service where I've never had it before but that could be the phone (5x). Let my son stream hulu there and back. Went over my allotment but app tells you exactly how much it costs - thought that was sweet. Also check out signal spy as an app and it will tell you which network you are on.

The 3 phones capable right now are only Nexus 6, 5X and 6P correct?

I need to try it out on my Nexus 6 not being used.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Great stuff to hear. What about with the messenger y'all are using. Do y'all use hangouts so it syncs between all your devices like tablets and computers? I know that uses up your data allotment.

I used to use Hangouts for SMS, but I switched over to using Google's Messenger for SMS because Hangouts seems to be kind of forgotten.

And I think you have the wrong idea about how it works. Hangouts can send and receive SMS messages, but they don't sync across devices and they don't use data. If you start a Hangout chat with someone, then yes that will sync and use data, but regular text messages don't get integrated with that.

No, with Project Fi you can use hangouts to sync across all devices and text and call from them. Including SMS. Look at the link below.

Ah ok, I tried that setting once and it really fricked things up when I put my AT&T sim back in, so I turned it back off.

I thought all it did was make Hangouts the default SMS app, I didn't realize it synced the messages.

Yeah with Fi it allows you to see all your calls and messages on any device with hangouts. Kinda like what apple does. I may try it out but I don't want it to use a lot of my data.

I wouldn't worry about how much data it uses since it's mostly text. One single webpage would probably use more data than an entire month of texts. iPhones use data for iMessage, and I've never heard of crazy data usage due to that. UNLESS you send a lot of photo messages.

This is pretty much the same for me. I'm on Cricket(AT&T). The downside has been driving from DFW to BTR. There were some dead spots on the interstate and a lot of 3G spots on my drive. It kind of sucked. I'm still on the fence of keeping it or going back....

I'm thinking of ordering a sim for my 6p, but I'm on Verizon. I don't believe it will be an upgrade in anything other than cost. How has everyone's service been?

I actually switched from Verizon and got a little better service in my area than Verizon offered (birmingham, al area), using the 5x

I was on Sprint before so I am just gaining better service when I also have T-Mobile which has been great. I really have enjoyed it and the customer service is great. I also like being able to receive and send texts from my tablet and laptop through Hangouts now.

I did the same. I honestly haven't noticed much of a dropoff. I had spotty surface in the mountains a couple of weeks ago, but VZW is similar up there.

I loved arriving in Grand Cayman last month and having Google Fi app pop up and say "Welcome to Cayman, your rates here are the same as at home."
