Is U-Verse internet @ 1.5mps an actual alternative to Cox in New Orleans?

I really want to get rid of Cox because of their bullshite rate increase policy but 1.5mps seems like a step back into the stone age. That's the best option when I put my address in on ATT's site. Kind of seems like Cox has me by the balls.

1.5mbps is incredibly slow by today's standards and by no means should the OP switch to that, but I remember when we switched from a dedicated dial-up phone line to a 1mbps Charter connection back in 2000/2001ish... holy shite it blew our minds. I remember being amazed that Limewire/Kazaa/Bearshare could download a single song in 10 minutes!

You aren't going to be able to stream a damn thing.

In my experience U-verse is usually worse than Cox even if the quoted speeds are the same.

you can call cox and get your rates lowered.. or are you just doing internet only?

either way.. i would hate 1.5 for the freaking price att charges..

It doesn't buffer because Netflix dynamically changes bitrate (quality of your picture) based on available bandwidth. But you aren't getting HD, you need 6Mbps minimum for that.
