It varies based on quality. Someone of his stature runs about $50. I think it is a little overpriced for what you would get if you ask me.
For a comparison, I sell my friendship at closer to $450-500, but again, that's based on quality comparatively speaking.

Those POSes are not worth $50. I tried to return mine, and they refunded my money and said keep it. It's barely worth it for free. Slow as molasses, clunky, terrible battery life, multiple pixel defects, shitty web browser, limited app selection, etc. More than anything, the Fire is a great advertisement for the iPad.

I'm glad I ultimately canceled my order for the Fire Kids for my daughter. The more I read about it, the more uneasy I felt about its usability. Not that a 4-year-old needs much in the way of hardware, but when so many corners are cut, the method in which the software economically handles the hardware becomes that much more important. I definitely don't have faith in Amazon's flavor of Android for that.
I ended up getting her a leapfrog epic, which is also an Android tablet. Identical spec-wise, but leapfrog's software is much better.

My $35 fire tablet running CM 12.1 is great. Gotta get rid of that crappy FireOS.

i have an hd7 that is not model before the latest. it's pretty slow and the os definitely leaves something to be desired. but for a $75 (what i paid) media consuming machine, it is certainly good enough to me. i have an iphone - couldn't justify price of ipad for the same damn thing. that said, i recently got the larger iphone and doubt i'll have much need for the fire anymore.
